Boy Room Makeover – Paint
Happy Friday and Happy June 1st! Wow. Where did May go? My to-do list was actually a bit shorter this week, so I was able to get some painting done in the boys’ room. It’s not finished, but I thought I would do a quick post to show you the room {it’s been about 10 months since we moved in} and the paint color that I’m using.
This is what the room looked like before we pulled all the stuff out to paint. We sold the bookcases at the yard sale since a twin bed and dresser are coming into the space. I love the tall ceilings, very much dislike the short curtains and the light fixture has got to go.
The crib is going on the wall where the little antique wardrobe is in the photo above. The little wardrobe is a family antique piece, so it’s staying, but my hubby and brother moved it into the closet. I may remove the sliding wood track closet doors and replace them with a curtain so the bedroom space is extended more. We will see.
Anyway, Wednesday I cut in the paint all around the ceiling, doors and window. I was VERY careful, but trust me, any touch ups that are needed will be done by my hubby. I’m hoping to roll the walls today! Woot!
The paint color was so dirty brown and I’m thrilled with the much lighter color – Dove Wing OC-18 by Benjamin Moore.
It is a wonderful off-white, sort of warm gray color. Since the bedroom walls are paneling, I wanted to give them a bit of a plank look by lightening the paint. Once the doors and trim are painted bright white, I think it will look stunning.
I can’t wait to show you the fully painted room next week! 🙂 Oh and if you missed the Boy Bedroom Inspiration post, check it out. The crib bedding is on order and I can hardly wait to get it!
Have you done any painting lately? Happy weekend!!

I’ve been working off and on in my bathroom, ripping down wallpaper, mudding/sanding, and now painting it with a color called “Foggy Mirror!” 🙂
I love the tall windows!
I love the new color you chose, Myra. I chose Olympic’s “Winter’s Day” for the paint in much of my house. I’ve been going room by room. It does do wonders for all our paneling! Looking forward to seeing everything when you are finished.
