How To Make Time Stop Flying?

/

It seems like just yesterday that I was breathing in that sweet newborn baby smell.  Where has the time gone?

It’s gone too fast.  Way too fast.

Today, I’m enjoying the sweet pitter-patter of baby feet walking on the hardwood floor.

Growing.  Maturing.  Discovering.  Getting into everything.  Ahem.

Those sweet baby feet.

Satisfying. Loving. Being a kid again.

My heart’s response.

Now, I’m off to play with my baby.   Y’all have a fun day!

Do you ever feel like you’re too busy and missing out on life and the precious moments that you want to remember forever? Do you have any tips on how to juggle it all?

  1. Oh yes. I know what you mean. It seems like just yesterday my son was born. Now he is 2yrs old. Running around the house. Pointing, laughing, talking. It’s crazy!

    Enjoy your day! 🙂

  2. My children are 16 months and almost-3 years old. I can’t believe how quickly time has gone. I KNOW that I need to stop with dishes, sweeping, etc. etc. and take time out to play with them and enjoy them. It is such a blessing to be able to stay home with them full time and I need to be better at stopping and enjoying my time with them more.

  3. Girl, if you figure out how to make time stop flying, please let me know! Looking back, the first six weeks of his life are the ones I wish I had enjoyed more. I was so sleep deprived and dealing with ppd, that I don’t think I realized I wouldn’t get that time back. I love that I get to be home with him to snuggle him and love on him (when he lets me!).

  4. Ahhh! I know.. I hate how fast they grow. I mean, I can hardly believe we are going to be talking about kindergarten papers for my first baby … *sigh…

  5. Oh my youngest is six and my oldest is 13… yes I know what you mean! Intentionally setting aside time to just be with my family with no distractions and limiting our outside activities to no more than 3 nights a week helps. But time still goes too fast!

  6. I can relate! I just try and remember that the messes can be picked up another time and that helps me focus on my girl! She is 13 months old already and, like you, I feel like I brought her home from the hospital just last week.

I mean, would I rather do those dishes or play with blocks? Would I rather vacuum or crawl around smiling. Always the latter! I save my cleaning for after bedtime or another day. It took me a long time to let the messes go and not worry about them!

    1. @Lauren, Awww, thanks Lauren! One of my favorite things now is hearing Ridley say (in the sweetest little voice), “ma-ma.” He puts the accent on the second syllable, so it’s like “ma-MA.” SO cute! 🙂

  7. It took me too long to understand the swiftness of time. . .

I finally made myself look at things from an eternal perspective. In light of eternity, was a clean (or as clean as it could be with all those light hands making messes) house more important or was my children’s hearts more important. How would they look back and see me? As the mean mom who wouldn’t let them do anything or the fun mom who joined in their messes?

I still lose track of that sometimes, but we play outside alot where we can make all the mess we want and it doesn’t matter as much.

  8. Enjoy the moments! They fly by too fast and then he’ll be towering over you calling you his “little mama” before you know it! 🙂 All the stuff waits … childhood doesn’t! 🙂
