How To Get Clean Paint Lines Without Painter’s Tape

We {along with some sweet friends} have been painting our little hearts out at my Memaw’s house that we’re remodeling. We’ve painted ceilings, walls, trim and before we’re done, there will be some floor painting going on! I’m finally beginning to see a teeny sliver of light at the end of the tunnel of this project which is absolutely thrilling!

My preferred painting style is to cut in before I roll because I love the gratification of having the wall completely finished once the rolling is done. 🙂

Cutting in clean lines

It can be a crazy challenge to cut in the paint neatly and cleanly without painter’s tape. There are rare times that I do use painter’s tape, but more often than not, I prefer not to take the time to do that.

A few weeks ago, I told you about Glidden’s new “Show Me How” video series featuring my friend Lindsay from Makely Home. Well, I’m back today to share another fabulous video with tips on how to get clean paint lines without painter’s tape! These tips are simple, but so helpful!

If you’re reading in an email or feed reader, you may need to click here to watch the video!

Check out MyColortopia for more paint inspiration. You can translate colors from a photo into paint colors, take a color quiz and virtually paint a space from a photo. What fun! And also be sure to watch the rest of the “Show Me How” video series from Glidden!

What is your preferred painting style? Do you like to cut in or roll first??

Have a great weekend!

This post is sponsored by Glidden®, but I would have just shared this quick and easy information with you anyway, because I love painting and making life easier! As you know all opinions are always my own. Because everyone knows I have plenty to share! *wink

  1. I wish that worked for me but our house is 138 years old and none of the walls are straight or smooth so I had to use painters tape and press it on really well. But I will keep that in mind if I ever paint a smooth wall 🙂

  2. I’m a brush girl so tend to use a brush the whole way through, lol. But we’ve got some big jobs coming up and I’ll be rollin’ rollin’ rollin’…oops, got sidetracked there. Anyway, I’ll be rolling and so I’ll cut in first. Same way I do jigsaw puzzles, outsides first, insides last. 🙂 I love my paint shield to help make straight edge lines and she’s right (in video)–make sure you clean it every couple of times. It’s really great for that ceiling line!
