Layered Chocolate Peppermint Dessert
This Chocolate Peppermint Dessert has been enjoyed by my family for many years. Between my mom, sister and me, someone always makes it for our Christmas Eve family gathering at my Memaw’s house. Y’all. This dessert is so, SO good. YUM!
I’m on a Chocolate Peppermint kick {see my Chocolate Peppermint Truffles}, so this recipe was sure to get added into the mix.
Chocolate Pink Peppermint Dessert
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs {I used gluten-free ginger snaps.}
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 8 ounces whipped topping
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
- 1 cup miniature marshmallows
Sprinkle 1/2 cup crumbs evenly on the bottom of an ungreased bowl. Beat butter and cream cheese with sugar and chocolate in a bowl until fluffy. Fold in nuts and carefully spoon over crumbs in the bowl. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup crumbs over the chocolate layer.
In another bowl, combine whipped topping, peppermint candies and mini marshmallows. Spoon over crumbs and spread evenly to the sides of the bowl. Refrigerate for 12 hours or overnight before serving. Garnish with shaved chocolate and peppermint.
Enjoy!

What kind of nuts do you recommend?
Pecans or walnuts work well. 🙂
Could you substitute Oreo crumbs for graham cracker crumbs?
Hi Jean! That would probably work quite well. 😉
Hi, Your recipe looks terrific, will try it. If you have somebody coming from South Africa for a visit, ask them to bring you our wonderful chocolate bar called peppermint crisp which is pepermint shavings on the inside, covered with yummy milk chocolate.
What do you use for whipped topping is that fresh cream or do you have something else in the USA. Would love to hear from you. Kindest Regards,
Madelaine.
