Christmas Thrift Store Finds!

Okay, I admit, I’m ready to decorate for Christmas. The Fall decorations {vintage mantel & front porch decor} have been out for two months and I’m kind of ready for a change. At the same time, I don’t want to skip over Thanksgiving, but I *think* I’m going to start Christmas crafting in the next few days! Woot!

I thought I would show you a few Christmas thrift store finds that I scored recently. Yard sale season is pretty much over, so if you can’t find me, I’ll be at the thrift store. 🙂

Okay, so this embroidered ribbon was an antique shop find, but I had to include it because I love, love, love it so much!  The color and pattern is just fab! I’m not sure what I’ll use it for, but definitely for Christmas. 🙂

The square tin was 1.00 and the tall skinny one 0.25. I’m going to use them to gift goodies to family and friends for Christmas. The thrift shops I frequent have a lot of cute tins for next to nothing!

This bamboo place mat caught my eye because of it’s color and texture. I love using various fabrics, cloth napkins or place mats in “food” photos and holiday displays.

This little 0.50 red gingham pot holder stole my heart.

I spotted these crocheted {right?} beauties from across the store.  I love the vintage-ish vibe and traditional colors!

If you’re looking for a few new things to spice up your Christmas decor, be sure to check out your local thrift shops!

Have you found any fun things at the thrift store lately?

  1. I just had to comment on the red, green and white potholders. My late mother in law made stockings for all our children out of that kind of granny squares. The colors do make one smile! I have not been thrifting lately but I am always on the lookout for great finds!

  2. I love what you found- especially that ribbon- can’t wait to see what you decide to do with it. I’ve found some awesome deals at the thrift stores lately, but my current obsession seems to be slipcovers. I’ve purchased four for my couch alone in the past two months! My daughter has been begging me to decorate for Christmas already. Like you, I’d like to enjoy a bit of the Thanksgiving decor before I break out our Christmas boxes.

  3. I too have turned to thrift stores as garage sale-ing in Canada has come to an end until next spring. This past week I found half of a spool of Christmas red binding (used around pillows) for $1.50! Score! It sells at over $5/meter at the fabric store. I have been picking up some inexpensive glass candle holders to make into hurricane lamps and the bottoms of my glitter Christmas trees. I love exploring thrift stores and usually find unique treasures. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Oh, those pot holder take me back to being a kid at “Penny Socials” with my mom. There would always be stuff like that available!

Recently my hubby and I hit the Goodwill. I found a low sided rectangle basket perfect for snacks on our open kitchen shelving.

He found a cute native american inspired adobe tea light holder. And, it was Partylite. You just know someone paid $25 originally for that. 🙂

I really love that red ribbon you found. My husband has a real appreciation for native american art – specifically the pacific northwest – and that ribbon wold be something he would have pointed out to me. Nice find!!

  5. I actually was at the local Goodwill yesterday evening, and scored 7 vintage, glass lidded fruit jars! I usually see them in antique shops for $5-$10 a piece (and I don’t buy them), but these were $1.51! I was excited. It’s the first time I’ve been in Goodwill and used a cart…

  6. I completely agree! I’m ready for Christmas decorations too. I’m trying to hold out. My saving grace is the 4 large Christmasy Yankee Candles I got. It’s holding me over until I get to go all the way Christmas!!! 🙂

  7. You sure got some great finds! I love perusing thrift stores in search of great finds. I agree that it’s a great place to find tins for gift giving. I often find tins for $.50 or less…and at the store they are crazy expensive. I also love looking for cheap baskets. They are also great for giving gifts!
