Quick and Easy, Healthy Breakfast

/

Recently I’ve discovered my new favorite breakfast.  It is quick and easy…not to mention, incredibly healthy!  This breakfast is not necessarily “frugal”, but I’m in the process of figuring out how to balance frugal and healthy – it’s not easy. (A post coming on that topic later.)

My favorite healthy breakfast is composed of Pomegranate Kefir and Ezekiel Bread English Muffins with Peanut Butter.  I prefer natural peanut butter, but I don’t have any on hand at the moment.

Have you ever tried Ezekiel bread before?  I’ve never preferred the loaf bread variety, but Ezekiel english muffins (toasted) are to-die-for-delish!

I’m not a huge fan of heavy carbs for breakfast because I end up feeling sluggish all day. Ezekiel bread is made out of sprouted grains that make a complete protein, and I feel energized when I eat healthy protein for breakfast.

So, what about kefir?  Am I crazy? (Don’t answer that! Ha!)

Kefir is basically fermented milk that has amazing probiotic qualities. Kefir aids digestion even more than yogurt.  Plain kefir tastes like plain yogurt mixed with sour cream.  It’s not bad at all, but I love the Pomegranate flavor.

So, if you want a happy gut, drink kefir!

What is your favorite healthy breakfast?

  1. I LOVE kefir. It is great for making fruit smoothies or just drinking plain. If you are looking for something healthy and frugal, try steel cut oats. They’re a little more expensive than the rolled oats, but they’re so good. Put one cup of oats and 3 cups of water in a pot and cover and let it sit over night. In the morning, bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer until thickened. I like to add honey, nuts and dried fruit, and some cold milk. A million times better than Cheerios and so much healthier!

  2. My son loves Kefir! He has been drinking that since he was able. And natural peanut butter….oh my! We go through lots in our house!!!! Can’t really get into Ez. bread though. Maybe I need to try the toasted English muffins. I’ll let ya know 😉

  3. Another Kefir lover, yay!!! I was given some grains and have a kefir smoothie almost everyday for breakfast. If I have too much I make popsicles for my kids. 🙂 I’ll have to look into the Ez. bread. I thought it looked a little pricey but I’ll do a little more research. Thanks! 🙂
