Frugal Autumn Table Centerpiece!

/

Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I thought I would share my frugal Autumn table centerpiece with you!  The inspiration for this arrangement came from a Publix home mailer — of all places!

I filled a vase with a bag of birdseed.  Then I added sticks and branches and used fishing line and straight pins to hang artificial pumpkins and leaves. To give it a finishing touch I tied scraps of ribbon and fabric around the vase.

Voila!

For my sister’s baby shower back in October, I hung baby girl hats, socks, shoes and mittens from the branches along with the pumpkins. We were going for a “fall-ish” with girly flair theme. You can see that arrangement here.

This Autumn table centerpiece is easy on my wallet and beautifully dramatic! Just my style!

You could also add feathers, pine cones and/or real leaves. This arrangement could also be made on a much smaller scale. I’m thinking about using the vase and branches for Christmas. I just need to figure out if I want to fill the vase with something other than birdseed. I think it would be so beautiful to hang balls, snowflakes or greenery on the branches. I think a natural, organic look is gorgeous!

And yes, I squeezed the arrangement out the back door to take the pictures on the porch because outdoor lighting is just so much better than inside.

  2. Great idea! Up my alley, too – I can go get most of the stuff outside =) I like Mandy's idea of cranberries or cinnamon sticks for Christmas.

  3. That is beautiful! I'm throwing a bird themed baby shower for twin girls on Saturday and I'm so going to use this idea!
    Thanks!

  4. I have a chair like the red one! Bought it at a garage sale for $2.00. Cleaned and painted it, then recovered the seat to match my kitchen. We use it for the kitchen desk chair. How fun to see another one like it!

  5. I love your Thanksgiving center piece! I’m going to make one this weekend. And for Christmas, try using fresh cranberries in your vase. You can buy them by the bag at your local grocery store during the holiday season. They are inexpensive and last for weeks!
