Decorating For Fall {Fall Vignette}

/ /

Good morning, lovely friends and Happy October 1st! {huh?} Where has this year gone?!  I’m totally enjoying decorating for Fall around my house. It’s a process that takes weeks. I love taking my time to decorate because “evolved” decor is some of the best in my opinion. I showed you my Collected Fall Mantel a couple of weeks ago, so today I’m sharing my Apple Green Desk dressed up for Fall.

Isn’t it pretty?!

I painted the green desk {a thrift store find} a few years ago and it is still one of my favorite pieces ever. Who knew that such a fun, bright color would be so great for various holidays like Christmas and Valentine’s Day too.

My DIY Ruffled Fabric Pumpkins found a home here. The cheerful colors make me smile over and over again.

I found this needlework art at the thrift store for a dollar. It was in a thin, ugly frame, so I popped it into another thrifted frame that I had on hand. It looks so much better!

I found this vintage scale at the thrift store months and months ago. I’m thrilled to finally have included it in my Fall decorating. Decorating wtih an old scale is definitely not earth shattering, but I sure do love it.

I’m pretty smitten with these granddaddy-sized pinecones that I bought last year in Franklin, Tennessee. I added them to my vintage yard basket {a $3 estate sale find} along with a few vintage childcraft books that I found at the library for 0.25 each.

This little red cigar box has been used in my home decor over and over again. I found two of them at a yard sale or antique shop.

This photo is a show-stopping collision of patterns, colors and textures. Love it.

I loved showing you my Apple Green Desk all fancied up for Fall. I just realized again the impact of decorating with meaningful items. It is my passion, but I love being reminded of it again and again. This Fall vignette does it for me. Almost every single thing in the above photo was either thrifted or found at a yard sale or an estate sale. I think I will go do a happy dance now. 🙂

Do you enjoy using second-hand items in your home decor?

  1. I enjoy looking at your posts and love what you do in your home. My decorating takes less time but it makes me happy. Orange pillows on the porch with a pumpkin on my porch table, yellow chrysanthemum by the door on one side and purple grass in a basket by the other door. Inside, decorated mantle with pictures of my kids from past Halloweens nestled among leaves with a few of my favorite things added. Last decoration is a glass vase filled with already owned mini-pumpkins and gourds from Michaels. It all makes me smile just like I did when I saw your pictures.

  2. OMGoodness…I’m lovin’ all your cute THRIFTY goodies…would love to have you come by and share them at my party (awesome thrift store scale).

    Blessings,
    Linda

  3. Very lovely Myra! It took me most of October to decorate as well. I’ve been very inspired by your thrifty finds and creative crafts. It always encourages me to try something new. I made a wreath using your tutorial, the burlap banner and used some of your decorating tips when decorating our mantle. I’d like to try the pumpkins next with some burlap. 🙂

  4. I love your fall decor Myra, but especially that Apple Green Desk… (yes, I think I did drool!) 🙂 I love how you decorate with yard sale find/thrift store finds… The wonderful world of blogs has me diy-ing and not going out and buying and I LOVE IT! Right now I’m redoing my first ever set of end tables I bought at a garage sale. (cross your fingers for me!) thx for your wonderful, inspirational blog… blessings!

  5. I love the color of your walls. I just bought a similar color for my dining room. Do you have a picture on your website with the entire room? I am trying to envision the bird’s egg blue. What other wall colors do you have next to that color?
