Sugar Scrub {Citrus & Honey}
Hello lovelies! I’m super excited to share my sugar scrub recipe today! I’ve been wanting to make a sugar scrub for quite some time, so when my friend Rachel was visiting two weekends ago, we each made our own sugar scrub. Ahhh! This sugar scrub is wonderful for exfoliating your skin. It makes mine so soft! And it’s just a little extra pampering for this busy momma. 😉

Sugar Scrub {Citrus & Honey}
- 1 cup raw sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 generous teaspoon honey
- 1-2 tablespoons olive oil {depending on consistency you want}
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- Citrus essential oils {I used 20 drops of each – lemon, orange, tangerine, grapefruit} or you could use pure vanilla extract, lemon or lime zest, fresh rosemary, lavender or whatever sounds good to you!
Mix sugars in a medium sized bowl. Add honey, olive oil and coconut oil. Mix well. This is the base for whatever additions strike your fancy. I added citrus essential oils and LOVE the scent!
This recipe fills a pint jar and could easily be divided into smaller jars for gifting at Christmas.
I use my sugar scrub during my shower and it’s so refreshing and invigorating. I scrub a lot. Ha!

Have you ever made your own sugar scrub? What is your favorite skin care product?

I just made one a week or so ago, with peppermint. It’s so invigorating 🙂 I love how the oil moisturizes your skin in the shower so you don’t get that tight, “my-face-is-going-to-crack” feeling when you’re finished! I bet the citrus scent is delightful 🙂

How long do these scrubs last before they start smelling stale?
I made mine a couple of months ago and it still smells great! 🙂
I am making this as holiday gift. Can you help with two things: 1. Where do you buy your oils? Not online … I need a brick and mortar store. 2. What is a conversion of 20 drops in terms of teaspoon? Would 1 teaspoon be enough vanilla extract?

I just had a question. Does the sugar scrubs go bad? And if so how long dies it take? How should the scrubs be stored?
They should last a few months with the lids on snugly. 🙂
