Breadsticks {In Less Than An Hour}
Hey y’all! I’m super excited to share this easy breadstick recipe today. My family loves these. I happy to love them a little too much. Ahem. I love that I can have them done from start to finish in less than an hour!
Seriously. They are soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. Perfection.
Breadsticks {In Less Than An Hour}
- 1 Tablespoon fast-rise yeast
- 1 1/2 c. warm water {I just use the hottest water that comes out of my tap.}
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon raw honey
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour {more or less based on thickness and texture}
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix water and yeast and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Add honey and salt. Mix. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time until dough is no longer sticky. Gently knead dough in the bowl until it is smooth. If you need to add a bit more flour while lightly kneading, that’s no problem!
Divide dough into balls, roll into breadstick shapes and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. {I usually pat out the dough and use a plastic knife to cut equal pieces before shaping into breadsticks.} Let rise for 20 minutes. While breadsticks rise, make garlic butter topping.
Topping
- 1 stick butter
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. parsley
Melt ingredients together in a small saucepan. Simmer for two minutes.
Brush topping over breadsticks immediately before baking. Brush again when you remove them from the oven.
Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
Enjoy with delicious soup, salad or as a side for dinner. YUM!
Does baking with yeast scare you? Do you make your own bread?
Have a beautiful day!
xoxo

The breadsticks in your photo look like loaves. How big do you actually make the breadsticks? Also, how many breadsticks does the recipe yield? Thanks!
The recipe makes 8-10 breadsticks. They aren’t loaves. Just about Olive Garden breadstick size. 🙂
These look really yummy. I love baking, yeast doughs included.
One of the best parts about baking bread is the smell. Here in China they don’t like cooking smells and always vent them, but I would never want to vent that smell.

I can’t wait to try these! Love adding bread to a meal a couple of times a week 🙂
And, yes, I make all of our bread products. That was one of our big health changes that we made last year. Goal: If we wanted a bread product, we would make it. We’ve cheated a few times for efficiency’s sake, but 90% of the time we make our own pancakes, waffles, hot dog/hamburger buns, sandwich bread, and dinner rolls. The taste and smell can’t be beat!
Thanks for sharing!

I’ve just come on board. Thanks so much for this breadstick recipe. Tried it yesterday , and it was not only easy, but ” super scrumptious” ( said my daughter). She doesn’t eat store- bought breadstick but loves this so much . I made two sticks which fit nicely on my baking tray. I may try putting slices of olives n rosemary on top the next time. We kept one for today and reheat it in the oven. What is the best way to refresh it, and can i freeze it ? I suppose I can make the dough into bread rolls? Wondering if you could do a post on how to store fruits and vegetables . Thanks , Lynda .
Articles are very nice…
Nice work,keep going.
