Easy Sausage Pizza
One of our favorite meals is homemade pizza. It’s so quick and easy and oh-so-delicious! There are a million and one ways to top a homemade pizza crust, but recently we’ve been enjoying Sausage Pizza using deer sausage from the freezer.
Easy Sausage Pizza
Crust:
- 1 Tbsp. (or 1 packet) active dry yeast (I like fast rise, personally.)
- 1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees F.)
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. each garlic powder, rosemary, Italian seasoning, onion powder
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add oil to water mixture. Combine dry ingredients and then add wet. Stir well. Knead in bowl {adding extra flour if necessary} until dough is smooth.
Press evenly onto very lightly greased pizza stone.
Toppings:
- Tomato sauce {I use about 1/2 cup, but you can do more or less.}
- 1/2 pound sausage, browned
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheese {We like mozzarella with a teeny bit of cheddar.}
Spread sauce over dough. Layer sausage, onion, bell pepper and top with shredded cheese. I sometimes even tear up fresh basil from my garden on top of the pizza. Delish!
Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is lightly browned. Enjoy!
What is your favorite pizza topping?
