The Beautiful Things…

I love beautiful days full of sunshine, birds singing, blue skies and front porch time. But, I also love the cool, gray, rainy days that tease me to take a nap. Every season has beautiful elements. Each new day brings with it beauty, charm and that “fresh with no mistakes” gift…at least until our feet hit the floor.

This Is My Father’s World is a great reminder that the universe is God’s handiwork. His beauty is in the large and small details of creation and in life.

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world: He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

We have so much to be thankful for today.  Look around you.  See all that beauty? Rejoice. Give thanks. Sing.

What beautiful thing are you thankful for today?

  1. A particularly beautiful post. *Lovely* bouquet. A favorite old hymn. A sweet sentiment about being attuned. All perfectly accompanied, because I’m sitting in my husband’s office at the moment listening to him warm up his church choir for the first service. Happy Sunday morning!

  2. Thank you for your positive words! I live in Portland Oregon, and there are a lot of grey days…it is important to see the beauty out there every day! Life is good!! Happy Sunday!

  3. I am thankful for my health and the health of my family, of the wonderful life God has given us, and the joy that I get from knowing that He loves me more than any human ever could. This post was a great reminder to be attuned to the world that God created around us and enjoy all that He has given us and shares with us daily.

    God Bless,

  4. i read this post the other day on the way to church. i wanted to comment… but that would just be wrong to do in church! lol. a beautiful post. i closed my eyes and listened to the worship music we had on in the car trying to come up with what i was thankful for.. aside from the usuals. nothing struck me. so i decided i was thankful for the “usuals”. then walking in the parking lot, my 4 year old daughter says “Mom look! my shirt sparkles and my shoes shine! I love the sunshine!!” could i be any more thankful?? no.
