Back In Time…
A couple weekends ago, there was a Civil War reenactment in a nearby town. My dad is part of the group that organizes it. He reenacts as a chaplain giving out gospel tracts and literature from the 1860s. I grew up reenacting and I enjoy browsing around the sutlers who sell “wares” from that time period. The event is so much fun to photograph!

Have you ever been to a reenactment?

My husband is a HUGE Civil War buff, but we’ve yet to have a real opportunity to see any reenactments together. He’d love to be involved in one, but since he’s a Yank stuck south of the Mason-Dixon, we’ll have to see if it ever happens. 😉

My family used to do reenactments in a little town built like one in the 1850s. It was so fun! Although, I must admit… All those layers in the summer was not fun. lol
I must admit, I have never seen a Civil War reenactment live. Wish I can get to see one.
Hi honey!
I have never been to a reenactment. I think it would really be interesting and I would enjoy it.
I have a brother that goes to rendezvous. I thought he wanted to be a cowboy. He really surprised me as he is studying to become a medicine man! His grandson grew up going with grandpa to these events.
I have never been to a rendezvous either. I would love to see history come alive.
My Randy takes Christy to a renaissance festival almost every year. I think that is a little too far back for me!
Thank you for sharing your pictures! It made me want to attend one!
Love to you,
Grandma Patty Ann

I am so thankful for men like your dad who minister to reenactors. They are a tough group but will go to services because “it was the thing to do”. Many have been reached with the Gospel. I wish your unit would come over this way. 🙂
Yep. We reenact the 17th century and call it Rendezvous (after the fur trade era rendezvous). In fact, I have an archery tourney next weekend and I’ve started a new batch of dresses for Lil’ Bit for next season!
How fun! 🙂
