Friday Fails – Dishsoap & Diapers

Photobucket

My most significant fail this week was definitely forgetting to purchase dish soap.  Oops!  I haven’t purchased dish soap in well over a year because I had a HUGE stockpile…emphasis on “had.”

In my defense, I wasn’t the person to actually completely empty the bottle, so that’s why it didn’t make it on the list.   At least that’s what I’m telling myself.  {sniffs smugly at mommy-brain}

The result of forgetting to buy dish soap might possibly look something like this…

Shhhh….don’t tell anyone, that’s only about 1/4 of the dirty dishes that filled the sink and counter. {blush}

Today, I ran the dishwasher two times and there is a mountain of dishes drying on the counter.   Oh, and I think there are still two pots to wash, but they can wait until tomorrow.  {Thank you Scarlett, for your glorious perspective!}

On to the diaper fail…

It is always a matter of concern when I hear an unusual noise as I go about my day. If it gets too quiet, I always check to see what Ridley is up to.

Well, today it wasn’t silence, but the sound of running water.

Yes, my friends…

My mouth gaped open in shock and then I laughed hysterically. I couldn’t scold Ridley for taking off his diaper because it was just too funny. And I’m glad that it wasn’t poop!

Now I’m off to figure out how to clean the peed-upon mattress.

My child isn’t the only one to do such madness, right?

  1. I had a similar experience this afternoon! My daughter went #2 in the bath tub for the first time! I saw it, grabbed it and flushed it and started telling her how silly she was and then some suds shifted and I saw more! I was beside myself. It happens to us all, I am just glad my #2 mess was in the tub and not the pack ‘n’ play!

      1. @Myra,

        You aren’t the only one! My daughter used to take her poopy diapers off repeatedly from 17 months-2 years. It drove me crazy and I tried tape and everything I could think of and was at my wit’s end until I started zipping her up in footie pajamas that were put on backward. This was the only thing that stopped her.

  2. Oh the things kids do!

    And I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one with mommy brain…I need the reminder every once in a while!

  3. I have been secretly following your blog for some time now — and I believe this is my first time commenting on an entry of yours 🙂 I wanted to say that you have a VERY beautiful backsplash tile in your kitchen — absolutely love it!! I barely noticed the dirty dishes LOL!!!

    and I have absolutely NO idea how to clean a mattress playpen pad? Have you thought about putting a sheet on those pads? We use crib sheets that were sized for our playpen but now come to think of it.. I should start placing a waterproof pad underneath the playpen mattress pad cause you’d never know!!!!!!! 🙂

  4. My Friday Fail is that my kids are just now making Father’s Day cards (okay for their dad, but not for the grandpas) Hopefully they will make it in the mail today, but still won’t get to them until after Father’s Day!

  5. LOL! I have a picture of my oldest daughter, right about that age, standing just SO CUTE, naked in her crib… and 2 SECONDS after I shot the picture she pooped and peed right there! She’s 18 now but it’s still one of my favorite picture of her. 🙂
    You might want to start having him wear onesies on backwards if the diaper removal becomes a regular problem. Ask me how I know! 😉

  6. This was so funny! This is the first time I’ve been here. I do a Friday’s Fave Five with blessings of the week — I should do this to even things out! HA!

    Come on over and see me sometime.

  7. When I worked in a preschool several years ago, I went in to get a child from nap. She too had taken off her diaper. And, she had pooped. And, she had proceeded to paint with it. I have never gagged so much in my life as I did that afternoon. Thankfully someone was able to come help me. We cleaned her up and then had to clean the crib. It took over a half hour. Seriously. Probably the most disgusting thing I’ve ever done, and it wasn’t even my kid. Good thing I loved her like my own.

    Oh, and I’ve never done the Friday Fails carnival, but I had a huge one today. Still waiting for it all to shake out and will be linking up next week! LOL!

  8. Nope, certainly not the only one who fails 🙂 I’ve forgotten so many things at the store this week simply because I forgot to write it down….definitely suffering from mommy brain! Thanks for the smile today 🙂

  9. I balance my pans just like that to soak them 🙂 When my oldest was little I let him play in the bathroom while I took a shower. He apparently “went”, took off his diaper and smeared poo into the grout og the floor. GROSS! 🙂

  10. I enjoy your blogs Myra, they brighten MY day!
    As for the lack of dish soap, you could use a mild shampoo or liquid laundry detg’t (wear gloves) he dishes won’t know the difference…lol!!!
    Now have a lovely week-end with you sweet family.
    Are you going lawn sale-ing?… I am!!!

  11. Oh and the diaper fail, don’t worry, these things happen, all part of life.
    When our children were younger, diapers weren’t made like they are today and were filled with a cotton-wool type material.
    Our son who was probably around Ridley’s age, decided he wanted to remove said diaper, except he did it a little bit differently!!
    The diaper must have separated at the waist and he managed to pull out all of the insides, yes!, one big mess and when I found him he was wearing just the shell, and all the “you know” was all over the place, #1 thankfully!!

    Blessings and love..
    Linda
