Friday Fails – More Laundry Drama

Photobucket

My laundry life is sort of like the LambChops theme song that I remember from forever ago. It is “the song that never ends, it goes on and on my friends.” I promise that I won’t bore you next week with anything else laundry related.

Sometimes I feel like such a crazy person. Last week I washed the same load of laundry THREE TIMES because I kept forgetting about it. Ever smelled sour laundry? Major gross! I don’t even want to think about the wasted detergent, water and electricity. Fail.

On Monday, I cleaned the house for hours getting ready for our realtor to stop by. I cleaned the “skeletons out of my closet” and ran out of time to fold the clean laundry. I tweeted:

“In an act of desperation because a realtor is coming, I shoved all the clean laundry into the washer and dryer. (blush) Pls don’t judge!” 🙂

I’m pretty sure that I really did blush as I stuffed the clean laundry back into the washer and dryer. But, I’m thrilled to know that I’m not the only one who has succumbed to such a temptation. Ha!

  1. I have definitely rewashed clothes before because I’ve forgotten about them. Now that my kids are getting old enough to run loads themselves, I suffer less from the “leave it in the wash too long so it has to be washed again” syndrome and more from the “we never wore this but OOPS it got put back in the dirty laundry basket again” syndrome.

But that fail belongs to everyone in my family, not just me…

  2. I thought I was the only one who could possibly get distracted enough to wash the same load of laundry over and over again because I forgot about it. I did that a couple times this week! Sigh. Thanks for your honesty!

  3. It is so funny you mentioned Lamb Chop’s song in relation to laundry. I recently thought the same thing and even reworded it on my FB status to read “It is the chore that doesn’t end, you wash and dry and mend…” There was more, but don’t want it stuck in anyone’s’ head, lol.

Been there (still there sometimes) on the rewashing soured laundry and also with the kids putting clean clothes back into the dirty laundry pile. And since we are all being so open and honest, I have to admit there were times (when kids were tiny) that laundry was so far behind I didn’t get to the bottom of the laundry sorter (it filled up too fast) and the kids outgrew things before I could wash them. We now have a “donation” box sitting in the laundry room so something outgrown or no longer loved can go directly in the box, no more getting back into the system. It’s cut down a lot on the “rewashing” of clean clothes that goes back into dirty piles.

  4. That reminds me of the time we were trying to sell our house in GA. My husband was eating pizza in our bedroom when the doorbell rang. He quickly stuffed the plate of pizza in the closet!!! I could not believe it, but he didn’t have time to make it to the kitchen, I suppose, before the realtor let himself in with a prospective buyer! It became hilarious later, but at the time I was just in shock, hoping they wouldn’t look in our closet!

  5. Too funny, girl! My fail for the week is getting up early, waiting for someone to pick me up for an appointment, getting quite irritated that she was running so late…checking my calendar and realizing the appointment is NEXT week LOL Guess none of us are perfect, huh? Have a great weekend!

  7. I had to laugh only because I could so relate to this. I was so overwhelmed with my laundry years ago that I actually took it all to a laundermat and washed all 12 loads just so I could have it done. I have 3 boys and that meant 3 loads a day, if I missed two day 6 load, 3 days 9 loads, you get the picture. I swear it multiplies like bunnies, good luck with yours, I feel your pain, truly,Kathysue

  8. I am so excited to come across this meme. This is the most encouraging thing that I have seen in a long time. How great to be encouraged by being human! Thanks, Myra.

  9. Who am I to judge? 🙂

    I have rewashed clothes before.

Look at this this way.. at least the clothes you had fit into the washer and dryer, what would you have done if you had more clothes :)?

  11. I have gotten a horrible reputation in my house for forgetting the laundry and letting it go sour in the washer. I have washed the same load of laundry about 4 times over the course of 2 weeks before I ever got it right. Now that I’m doing better with the washer, I’ve started putting the clothes in the dryer and not turning it on. Do you know how gross it is to open up the DRYER to that sour smell? Yikes! No judgment from me.
