It's Worth The Risk

The last month has been full of risks here at the casa. It’s a bit out of my comfort zone, but taking risks is completely empowering…especially when they work out. If something doesn’t go as planned, it is yet another opportunity to take another risk. Do I dare to say that I really do love taking risks?  The payback is *usually* phenomenal! 🙂

When I decided to rip out the disintegrating sink cabinet in our hall bathroom, little did I know that we would uncover a can of worms that would initiate us from the renovation-inexperienced tribe to the renovation-learning-as-we-go tribe.

It was time for the poop brown bathroom to go!

Risks we’ve taken:

  • Ripped out the sink cabinet only to find mold and rotten wood
  • Ripped out 60 year old hardwood flooring
  • Tore out subflooring, see?

  • Installed new hardwood for the first time
  • Bought baseboards to hang for crown molding.  Is it a risk?  Am I crazy?  Maybe, but I’m willing to take it!

I can hardly wait to finish up this bathroom!  Maybe we’ll be done in a week or so. {fingers crossed} It’s going to be wonderful!! For now, I’m off to caulk and paint . . . and I’ll probably take a risk in the next few hours.  Just for the fun of it.

Have you taken any risks at your house lately? It can be an itty bitty risk or a ginormous risk!  They all count!! 🙂

  1. Not me, but my husband completely redid the electrical in our master bath this past weekend since, for some unknown reason, we had no outlet in there and no exhaust fan. He is a shirt & tie wearing bank manager, but he is mighty handy too. 🙂 He did a beautiful job!

  2. I decided to paint my dining room wall a bright raspberry colour called Exotic Flowers by Behr. I’ve had a few raised eyebrows but I LOVE it. That’s about as risky as I’ve been lately with home renos…

  3. I like it! I’m gonna take a risk and do what you did. I’m going to use the base board trick and install it as crown molding in my small office. I’ll let you know how it works out!
