Simple, Frugal Fall Decor

/

Early on Saturday morning, I opened the windows and a beautiful breeze kissed with sunshine came pouring in. It was *almost* chilly. Almost. I squealed and giggled. After an unbearably hot summer, the first hints of Fall have arrived.

Fall is my favorite season. My collection of simple Fall decor has evolved over the last five years.  I can’t get enough of pumpkins, warm apple cider, colorful leaves and the decorations. Yes, the decorations…Come on in and I’ll show you around, okay?

Our Front Door

Photobucket

  • Left: I found this white planter at a yard sale for 0.50 and filled it with leftover flowers from the wreath and cans project.
  • Right: The flower cans that my sister and I made together.  This project is so easy and cheap. Supplies: 2 large soup cans, floral foam, flowers, ribbon and hot glue.  You can’t mess this one up, folks! 🙂

My Welcome Scarecrows have always had a place near the front door, but since I did the mirror makeover, the scarecrows have been booted from the foyer.  I think I found them at Hobby Lobby or Old Time Pottery…it’s been a while.

Photobucket

Here’s the top of the piano.  I *adore* my “Giving Thanks” cylinder vases from the (In)Courage party at Blissdom.  They are filled with sparkly pumpkins and gourds that I found at Hobby Lobby for 40% off! Yay!

Photobucket

I love decorating with burlap. The texture and color are perfect for Fall and it’s quite inexpensive too. I can’t wait to show you what I made with burlap!!!!  Stay tuned for a tutorial! 🙂

I don’t think anyone can ever have too many pumpkins. I love pumpkins in all colors — from sparkly brown, to bright orange to white…they are all just aesthetically wonderful.

Pumpkins are incredibly versatille.  I have them on top of candle holders, sitting on my dining table, beautifying my apple green desk, and my newest pumpkin addition (for $2!) is on a chest in my bedroom.  {swoon}

Candy corn filled bottles and gumball machines are festive, Fall-ish, and cheap…so cheap.  I bought 3 tubs of candy corn at Dollar General for only $6.00.

Photobucket

Cinnamon sticks, berries, nuts and branches are a great way to add linear interest to fall decor.   Leaves and flowers are flowing and “free-spirited”, so I use round and linear items to balance everything out. I found the long cinnamon sticks and berries at Hobby Lobby and the branches and nuts I picked up in my Memaw’s back yard.

Photobucket

I {heart} my hurricane vases!

I made them from candlesticks and Dollar Tree vases — Easy peasy!

Photobucket

This is the right side of my mantel. I can’t show you the entire thing because I would lose my “thunder” for the  next two months. I have two mantel-related projects that I will be sharing with you over the next few weeks!  {tease}

Photobucket

I created a decorative Fall canvas out of scrapbook paper, an old book (that I ripped pages out of!) a canvas and Modpodge.  So easy on the wallet and absolutely stunning!

PhotobucketCandles, candles, candles…how I love thee.

Candles make my heart go pitter pat. They are cozy, warm, beautiful and romantic. Oh yes, romantic.  They go hand-in-hand with my lamplight obsession and they are just the perfect accessory for Fall.

Now that I’ve shown you my Fall decor, would you like to sit down and have a mug of apple cider?

Over the next few weeks I’m going to be sharing how to make…

  • A Gorgeous Burlap Table Runner
  • Fall Leaf Banner
  • Autumn Blocks
  • Fall & Winter Wreath for Under $10
  • and possibly How To Dress A Table For Fall! 🙂

  1. Everything looks great! You’re very good at the arranging flowers. Mine always look so sad. My mom, sis and I are having a craft day on Thurs to work on some fall decorations. I can’t wait to get started with Fall decorating! I love candy corn, but I love those little pumpkins even more! 🙂

    1. @Kristi, Thanks Kristi for your sweet comment! When I arrange flowers, I try to make them look like I just went out to the back yard and picked them…i.e. shove them in. (giggle)

  2. Oh how you are making me anxious for the fall season afterall! I’ve held on to my first summer near the coast for as long as absolutely possible… but alas, I am now craving pumpkins, spices, and cool! 😉

  3. Wow your home is going to look amazing this autumn. I’m not a big fan of autumn and winter mainly because it is dull and gray here in the UK. but with all your wonderful colorful decorations, you could just change my mind.

    1. @Kate, Thanks Kate for your comment! I live in Alabama and the fall/winter gets gray, rainy and pretty yucky, but I love warming up the inside with cozy colors and candles. 🙂 Try it…it will lift your spirits! 🙂

  4. Oh I’ll be back to check on further developments. Love the soup cans! I could go with those all by themselves. This reminds me that the doors aren’t done either…

    1. @Vee, Thank you Vee! I’m going to be working on a tutorial for the flower cans. A couple others have asked for more details…so stay tuned! 🙂
