I *Heart* Bulk Cooking!

by Myra on December 1, 2009

It’s that time again! Freezer Cooking Days!

I’m convinced that bulk cooking is the solution to my “there’s never anything for dinner” woes. Last month, I participated in “Baking Days.” You can read about that fabulous experience, here and here. It was wonderful to be able to go to the freezer for breakfast and dinner when we were in a time crunch.

Here is my ambitious (for me-as I care for my 10 mo) list:

-Debone Smoked Thanksgiving Turkey
-Bag turkey to freeze
-Make and freeze Turkey Stock
-Pintos and Black Beans in Crockpot
-Bag beans to freeze
-Make Zucchini Bread Muffins (freeze)
-Make Banana Bread (freeze)
-Make Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins (freeze)
-Attempt Homemade Roasted Red Pepper Hummus It is yummy!!
-Brown seasoned Ground Beef (for soups, casseroles)
-Make 2 Mexican Lasagnas
-Bag Chicken Breasts with Veggies (to just dump in crockpot)
-Bag Roasts with Veggies
-Twice Baked Potatoes (freeze)
-2 batches Granola
-Boil chicken breasts for chicken salad (freeze)

*Edit: I got a lot done today and I’m exhausted! I’ll be posting recipes tomorrow along with my bulk cooking recap!

Can I get all this done in two days? I’ll keep you posted!

I can't wait to see how this goes for you. I am thinking of it, beginning in January. I am intimidated.

Wish you all the best. Sounds great!

I also am starting to really appreciate freezer cooking. There are 3 days of every week when my husband and I are gone from the house from 7am-6pm, and on those days, we seriously need something EASY. Freezer recipes have been the best solution we have found, so far.

PLEASE post your hummus recipe! We've tried it several times, but never found a really yummy recipe.
