Addicted to Other People’s Junk!

My friend April and I went out early on Saturday morning to a rummage sale, a couple of yard sales and an estate sale. April found the bird cage for me at a thrift store on Saturday afternoon.

Here’s what I got…

Hideous window that I’m going to make beautiful! Both April and I got one. Mine was decorated for spring and hers was for Christmas. The lady that sold them to us was so proud of how “beautiful” they were and how we could change them up for the seasons. I opened my mouth too fast and told her we were just taking everything off. Oops!

Brass bird cage that’s getting painted bronze…probably tomorrow since I can’t stand brass! I’ve been on the look-out for a birdcage and this one is perfect!

Cut glass bowl (just like my Memaw’s)

Bracelet, necklace and 2 pairs of earrings

Wooden tray — You can’t see it very well in the collage, but it’s gorgeous!

Christmas Bell candle holder

Two picture frames

Two cigar boxes

All of this I got for $18.00!!!

Note: I didn’t post my grocery savings on Saturday because I didn’t go to the grocery store at all last week. It was a nice break! We still have a well stocked pantry, freezer and refrigerator. I am hoping to get in on some of the deals this week though.

Happy Monday!

  5. Love your finds!! I am not a garage sale person, and will not be until someone invents afternoon shift garage sales ,but you did great! I bet that bird cage wil look great when you love it up!
Our big grocery saving for the next few months was sending the summer pigs to butcher. My freezer is stock full of August's goat, September's chicken, and October's pork. The chickens produce enough eggs to share, to sell and to use even for our current family census of 10 at home too. Plenty of milk from the goats as well after we sell to customers. STILL enjoying tomatoes, peppers and beans from the garden which amazes me but every day there is still plenty to harvest!
Thanks for stopping my my blog!
    Linda
