Grocery Savings

by Myra on August 8, 2009

This week, I didn’t see a ton of amazing deals AND my coupons have been a total disaster. I finally had time today to go through and pull all the expired qs. There were some that expired in May! Ack! Prince Charming helped me go through them and then I separated and organized all my new coupons that had been waiting to be cut and filed. All is happy in Myra’s coupon world now! Ha!

Today, Little Man and I went to Publix and Aldi. He was a great little helper! Not one fuss the entire time!

Here’s what we got…

Publix

1 Rice Krispies Cereal – free
2 Kraft Shredded Cheese – 0.67 ea
2 Crisco Extra Virgin Olive Oil – 2.24 ea
1 Crystal Light Canister – free
1 Cover Girl Eyelash Curler – 0.69

Total value: 33.82
Paid oop: 8.35!!! including tax

Aldi

Sweet Potatoes
4 bags Baby Carrots (for baby food)
Sweet Corn
Yellow Squash (going to make baby food)
Lemons
Peaches
Corn Tortillas
Milk
Frozen Peas (more baby food)
Salad Mix
Tortilla Chips
BBQ Chips (for Prince Charming’s lunches)
Cream Cheese
Refried Beans
CranGrape Juice
All Purpose Flour
2 Salad Dressings
Salsa

Paid oop: 29.35 including tax
Total for the week: 37.70!

Our pantry and freezer are well stocked with meat, canned goods, cereal, granola bars, crackers, juice, etc. Hopefully in the near future, we will be getting a portion of beef from the farm where my parents live. I’m excited to have the all-natural stuff! I love saving money, but I love to feed my family healthy meals. It’s definitely a balance!

How do you manage to feed your family frugally and healthfully at the same time?

I loved that Kraft cheese deal at Publix – wish I'd had more than one coupon!

Nice work!! Getting meat straight from the farm is so much better, and cheaper! Frugal and healthy? That's an oxymoron :)

If you are still interested in doing a give away of one my products on your blog, I would very much appreciate that!! What a great idea! I would even send a boys hat for your little man as well!

I need alittle time to make the hats (not long), since I am doing them upon request at the moment. And I also need to design a button too. Thanks for much for your help!

Sending you my email… I looked up yours on your profile, and I have to have outlook installed in order to even view your address :) Can't stand outlook!

ok, You're right – it would just be easier for me to send out the giveaway hat and you post a photo of your son wearing it! Email me with color preferences.

Great job sis! I hope I'm able to spend that much on our groceries this week! But I'm afraid I'll spend more. Oh well, I'm starting to feel ready to get back into couponing more, so we'll see.

Love ya!

I didn't find a lot of great deals this week either. Actually only used about 5 or 6 coupons this week! Still didn't break the budget though!! Here's to next week!!
