Simple Guest Room Makeover

Good morning! I hope you are doing well! We just returned from a wonderful trip to the great state of Texas! It’s been a whirlwind summer, and I am so ready for a break from the heat…and FALL! Who else is ready for the best season of the year??! Before I get too ahead of myself, I have to tell you all about the progress we have made on our guest room makeover!

This is the season for new spaces – dorm room spaces, new apartments and more. Decorating doesn’t need to be stressful or complicated. Just a few simple additions usually do the trick when decorating on a dime! Shopping the pretty Better Homes and Gardens product line at Walmart is a sure fire way to decorate a lovely space on a budget. Let me show you how I did it in the guest room!

Our guest room tends to be a catch all space {don’t all guest rooms?!} and it was completely un-decorated before I started this simple project to spruce it up.

I love the navy and yellow bedding set that I found at none other than Walmart.com!

Isn’t it pretty?! I hung my DIY Playing Card Specimen Art made from my Granny’s Old Maid cards on the wall. The nightstand is also a recycled laminate nightstand that I made over a few years ago. It’s still one of my favorites. 🙂

The extra two pillows are also Better Homes and Gardens items that I found at Walmart. I like the geometric patterns and colors that the pillows add to the bed.

I decided to get four amazing galvanized bins as well because they are perfect for organizing and hiding junk. I found the little chalkboard signs at Hobby Lobby and hung them on the bins with clothespins. What a fun and simple touch!

The curtains surprised me. I wasn’t sure I would love white sheer curtain panels, however the subtle stripe on the panels and the mercury glam curtain rods are a nice touch that has really grown on me.

The tear drop lamp on the nightstand is also a Better Homes and Gardens find at Walmart! I love how you can mix and match the shades with different bases to find just the right look for your space.

Okay, I’m going to stop talking so you can enjoy the rest of the photos. 🙂

This new space came together so easily. The curtain panels needed a good ironing job, but that’s nothing difficult or unusual. We have company coming in the next week or so, so we will put this newly decorated room to good use!

Do you have a guest room that tends to be a catch all?

XOXO

  5. I love that you have Old Maid cards. It was a favorite game of mine at my grandma’s growing up as well. Of course everyone knew who had the old maid card. Love the room too!

It’s always good to know new knowledge, thanks

  8. It is much easier to start repairs if you already have a clear project and you know where to start. Together with interior design software, it is much more convenient to prepare a render of the desired result, because you can recreate all the wishes to the details
