Decorating With Pops of Color
Good morning, lovely friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was spent on my knees working on floors at Memaw’s house. I am SO sore. We are almost done with phase one of the renovation and we are moving THIS weekend! Ahhhh! You should see my to-do list. It is a few miles long. 😉
I’m going out on a bit of a “decorating limb” this time and I’m decorating with a color that I {big puffy heart} love. It’s Benjamin Moore’s Huntington Green. You know, my apple green desk that everyone swoons over? I painted it four or so years ago and it’s still my favorite piece of furniture ever. So, I decided to incorporate the same color into the renovation at Memaw’s.
The front door and the lower kitchen cabinets are wearing this awesome color. How fun is that?!
Would you like a teeny peek? The door was drying in this photo, so it’s extra shiny. I may actually be changing the sheen. I’m thinking about it.
My neutral loving self is a little terrified, but I know it’s going to be awesome. If for some reason, it’s not awesome, it’s *just* paint…one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to change up your home decor! 🙂
Have you ever decorated with a bright and happy pop of color? What is your favorite color to decorate with?
I might be a little quiet here this week because I will either be finishing up projects at the house or packing like a crazy woman. 🙂
xoxo

Until I moved to my townhouse, I have always had a red front door. They are just so happy. And I love your door color…keep it!!

Myra,
I LOVE the front door!! Our front door is red, and I love it, but I am really liking this green! I’m not sure I could “step out on that limb”, but it looks great! Can’t wait to see more “peeks”! Good luck with the packing & moving…..
Blessings to you,
Lanita
That’s such an excellent choice! I love that green for a front door, especially. (I kinda love it shiny, by the way 🙂 )

Everytime I see your green desk–I want something in that same color… Kelly green is my favorite green…. I can’t wait to see the lower cabinets? Are you staying neutral on the top? I’ve been waiting to change either our upper or lower and just can’t decide how to go about it? Cant wait for you to share more… Good luck with the move… You’re doing an awesome job on the reno!
We have one of our living room walls that goes in to our dining room painted bright aqua and my kitchen is painted flame yellow. Our house is decorated 50’s style so I love the bright colors. I’m not a neutral gal.
In the last couple years I have begun adding red in my home. I like your front door. Can’t wait to the cabinets. Have a happy move! Looking forward to seeing all you will do with your new home. What a treasure to be moving into your Memas home 🙂
Blessings,
Sherri
Hi Myra,
I love that green, so very pretty. My kitchen cabinets are all a dutch blue and my kitchen is a lovely yellow. All other spaces in our home seem to be more of a neutral color.
Blessings to you and family as you enter your new home.
Have a beautiful day!
Our current house is an older home that we have gutted and renovated. Most of the colors in this home are light/neutral. However, our main door is a green similar to your new front door. I love it! I also have one wall in my kitchen that is a pumpkin/orange.
I am thinking also of painting my room of white the door is yellow or green. I Love the decorations you’re doing especially the colors.
The door color is fabulous. I so love that green!!!! I agree with the sheen, but wait until it dries.
I am not a huge fan of the color green but I LOVE the color you picked. It looks so bright and refreshing. This is making me feel a little more brave to get out of my white, black and beige color box 🙂
