Christmas Mantel {2012}

/ / /

Good morning, sweet readers! I’m thrilled that it’s December. And…I’m really excited to show you my collected Christmas Mantel today. To be perfectly honest, I miss {like, really, really miss} my old living room and fireplace. But, I’m very thankful to have a mantel to decorate this year.

Ohhh, la, la! I love it! I was determined to use what I had on hand, but a few new things managed to sneak in. I found a cute little bird at Target, my friend Lisa sent me adorable burlap stockings from her Shop24, the “Believe” sign is from a local shop and the red Christmas pillow is from HomeGoods. Oh my word, y’all. We finally have a HomeGoods. Ahh!

In my typical style, I layered shutters, frames and accessories. I love the bit of “bling” that the mirror, candlesticks and vase full of ornaments brings to to the mantelscape. Sprigs of greenery and berries tie everything together.

See the bling? Love it! And the glittery branches are from my Metallic Fall Tablescape centerpiece.

I adore this pillow. Confession: I actually bought two. 🙂

This Willow Tree figure makes it’s way into many of the vignettes that I pull together. My hubby got it for me and I love it. We’re coming up on seven years of marriage and things are good. I told him yesterday that I love him more than the day I married him…and that was a lot. 🙂

Like I mentioned, I found the Believe sign at a local shop for just a few bucks. This word is really the focal point of the mantel decorations. Scroll back up to look. I’ll wait right here. I actually didn’t notice it until I took a picture of the mantel. I don’t think the focal point could be any more perfect…or true.

This is the cute bird I found at Target. I love his chevron scarf, of course!

More blingy shimmer from the candlesticks.

To keep a good balance with the metallic tones, I added a block of salvaged wood under one candlestick. The extra height is good too.

I filled an old Pepsi soda box with firewood and then I tied up a bunch of kindling. Again, the rustic-ness of the wood adds a great texture and keeps the metallics from taking over. I love a good blend and balance of textures and colors.

I am smitten with the sweet burlap stockings for the boys from Shop24. They are perfect!!

This photo isn’t really of anything in particular. Maybe that makes it a bad photo. But I don’t really care. It makes me happy because of all the pretty colors.

I almost forgot to mention the festive votive candle holders under the Believe sign. I made them from plain dollar store votives. I will post the tutorial soon.

And one last peek at the entire mantel and fireplace display. Now I need to get busy finishing up decorating and unpacking, so I can get busy in the kitchen!

Do you have a mantel or shelf that you decorate for Christmas each year?

XOXO

Myra

  1. I am cuh-razy about the layers! You did a wonderful job and I love that little bird with the scarf…he wants to come live at my house. Tell him to fly to Texas, but he won’t need his scarf here. We’ll have to get him a short sleeved shirt and some flip flops.

I’m so glad you like the stockings….they look wonderful. The boys will love them for years! Lisa~

  2. I love the chevron! I’ve been thinking about how cute it would be to have a chevron background for my kids’ Christmas photos. Where did you get it? Is it just fabric that you stapled on to something? I would love some insight! 🙂

  6. What a beautiful job u did Myra! I love it all… and I know what you mean about the one picture that you said it might be a bad pic but you just love all the colors. I do too! And think it’s a pretty picture 🙂 I was a lil’ embarrassed at your question if anyone has a mantle to decorate. We do and I do not look forward to it… it’s a deep one (built outside above our fireplace and I’m lost with it) 🙁 it’s maybe 2 feet deep. But thx SO much for all the inspiration here… love it all and hope to tackle ours soon!

  7. LOVE IT! Its so cozy. I think the stockings for your boys are awesome.
I’ve really enjoyed decorating the mantle this year for fall and Christmas. This was the first year we’ve actually had a mantle and I’ve really enjoyed seeing how you decorate yours for each season. Its truly inspiring!
