Consignment Sale Shopping!

A few weeks ago, my sweet sister and I hit up a kids consignment sale. We went to the nice, quiet, consignor’s sale (thanks Mom, for your ticket). It was such a pleasant shopping experience…unlike the public sales when there are a bajillion people there.  Then we went to the Moonlight Madness sale where just about everything was 50% off!

I stocked up on a bunch of stuff for Ridley for surprising little cash! It is amazing what you can get secondhand…good quality at great prices.

I found these toys – a Vtech interactive toy, blocks, a puzzle and a book!

And more books, flashcards and educational tools!  I’m a book crazy…can’t ever have too many. 🙂

14 shirts, sweaters, jackets!

2 pairs of pants, two overalls and a sweet smocked outfit!

PhotobucketA brand-new potty chair!!!

PhotobucketRidley loves his new “Cars” toy.

Please don’t judge me for putting his Christmas pjs on him.  They are a tad too big, but the others were in the laundry.  {blush}

I only paid $108.00 for all of these items!!! I’m so pleased with my “finds” for Ridley’s wardrobe and entertainment over the next few months!

Do you shop consignment sales for your children?

  1. I haven’t scored any huge deals for the kids lately but I found a gorgeous, trendy, fall jacket for $6 yesterday while looking for jeans for my growing-faster-than-a-weed teenage son 🙂 Love deals like this!

  2. Yes! We went to our first one at our county fairgrounds a couple weekends ago and scored some great outside toys including a Little Tikes slide/fort thing! We are set on clothes for the winter but I browsed and realized I should check the sales out more when we are clothes shopping!

One thing we do do on a regular basis is shop secondhand stores. We got pretty much all of our daughter’s clothes from Once Upon a Child for a fraction of the cost of buying new and some of the things we got were BRAND NEW! Score!

    1. Shelley, that is awesome!!! I need to check out some other secondhand stores. The consignment stores in my area tend to be overpriced, but I’m always looking for new options! 🙂

    1. Thanks Karen, for your comment! 🙂 I hope you have a great day and it’s only 10 days til I see you! 🙂

  3. I love the big consignment sales! I usually find some really great things for my toddler there. Unfortunately, due to a really cute newborn, I didn’t get a chance to go to the fall sales this year. 🙁 That said, I don’t really shop at the consignment stores. I find that the selection for little boys is not very good, and I think they’re usually overpriced. Why am I going to pay $8 for a used pair of khaki pants when I can get them on sale at a department store for $8-10?

    1. Amber, I couldn’t agree more! Consignment stores are way more than they are cracked up to be…at least the ones around where I live. 🙂 But I love, love, love consignment sales that happen 2x a year! 🙂 Thank you for your great comment!!

  4. consignment sales are wonderful!! You should also look into freecycle in your area… some areas are not as active as others but worth the try. I once got an ENTIRE wardrobe for my son from 0-12 months from this couple who no longer needed their son’s clothing and we didn’t really have to buy a single thing because I was pretty much all set (but I did buy few cute things for my son — who could resist?!) Now my son’s into 18 month clothing these days, I pass on these finds to a friend of mine who just had a baby boy.

  5. That’s a great deal! Kid’s Market in Huntsville (kidsmkt.net) sounds like the same thing and it’s amazing! 🙂 It’s too late to contribute, but the fall public sale starts on the 18th and I can’t wait to get baby boy items for our arrival due in January. 🙂

    1. Thanks for your comment Joanna! I know a few people who do Kids Market. 🙂 Thanks for letting me know about the public sale. That’s definitely something that I would love to check out. 🙂

  6. Wow, these are great! We have a good thrift store near us that sometimes has some amazing finds, but I have not had as much luck at consignment sales. You have inspired me to keep trying!

    1. Kelly, I’ve found that it’s a hit or miss thing, but the earlier you can get to consignment sales, the better. 🙂

  7. It is really easy to become a consignor yourself. There is a local business that holds “seasonal” consignment sales. They charge a $10 consigning fee ( that can be waived w/a refferral) + 30%. I know that sounds like a lot but it’s a steal if you were planning to donate instead.

    1. Thanks Lacey! 🙂 At this point, I’m not ready to become a consignor myself, but after we have more children I’ll definitely be considering it. 🙂 Hope you have a lovely day girl!
