Reasons To Praise!

In the last few days, I’ve been thinking on one of my favorite passages of Scripture – Isaiah 55-66. There is so much hope and so much encouragement.

I have many “favorite” verses in Isaiah, but this one resonates with me because it is where I need to focus. Even when life goes haywire {which is quite often, ahem}, I still have a reason to praise my Jesus.

“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
my soul shall be joyful in my God;
for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation,
he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness.
Isaiah 61:10

THAT is a reason to praise, a reason to be happy and a reason to smile!

Because of the work of Christ, I have salvation and His rightousness. He’s not looking at my ugly selfishness, my self-centeredness or pride because it’s covered. All my “filthy rags” are covered with His perfect righteousness.

What a joy! What a blessing!

Let’s get out of our funks and live lives of praise!

Do you have a favorite “de-funkifying” verse?

  1. You are right. We can praise our way out of any funk. When we choose to praise Him, despite our circumstances, simply because He is worthy, it takes our eyes off of our problems and puts them onto the Lord and then our problems become smaller! Have a great tomorrow!

  2. I am sure my “de-funkifying” verse is about a million others’ “de-funkifying” verse… Jeremiah 29:11. I think there is good reason so many others turn to this verse, though. Reading it, or thinking it, when things are nuts is a good reminder that it is all happening for a reason. Even if I don’t know why things are happening, God does and He does not wish harm upon me. It reminds me to trust God and not focus so much on how I am feeling and what I want to happen. It is not all about what I want!

  3. While I don’t have a favorite “defunking” verse I do want to say thank you for this one. I’ve been struggling with feeling selfish and ugly and fighting with what my path is in this world.

    I do have a favorite verse though. It’s actually the first verse that my now 6 year old son learned.

    “I can do all things through Christ who provides me strength”

    Thinking of his little voice saying that makes me warm inside and gives my heart a little extra beat.

  4. Yes! Lives of Praise! Thanks for this post today!

    My favorite is Isaiah 43:1-3

    But now, this is what the LORD says—
    he who created you, O Jacob,
    he who formed you, O Israel:
    “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
    I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
    2 When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
    and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
    When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.
    3 For I am the LORD, your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
