Sunday Meditations – Running To The Rock!
Today has been a stormy day around these parts. There have been tornadoes, damaging winds and flooding all around us. My heart breaks for the many who have lost loved ones or their homes in the storms.
I’ve never liked tornadic storms. Give me a good thunderstorm any day, but please keep the tornadoes far, far away. Especially since becoming a mother, I feel responsible to keep Ridley safe. So when the weather is bad, I tend to get very stressed.
Today, in the middle of the stormy weather, this verse came to my mind and heart. God always knows what we need and when we need it. His Word is always relevant!
“When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:2
“How oft in the conflict, when pressed by the foe,
I have fled to my Refuge and breathed out my woe;
How often, when trials like sea billows roll,
Have I hidden in Thee, O Thou Rock of my soul.
Hiding in Thee,
Hiding in Thee,
Thou blessed Rock of Ages,
I’m hiding in Thee.”
by William Cushing
What an amazing reality it is to run to the ROCK! Have a blessed Sunday!
ALWAYS RELEVANT!! =)
have a powerful Sunday!

I hate tornadoes too! I think that they are my number one fear but thanks for the reminder that looking to God in times like that is important!

I hear ya girl. I really don’t like tornado weather, I remember as a child getting my stuff which was my pillow and a picture of my father (he died when I was 9) and taking them with some blankets downstairs when the weather would get bad. I also remember being at Walmart one day when my daughter was about 2 and at home with her dad and we had a tornado or something anyway they wouldn’t let me leave everyone had to go to the back of the store I started freaking out saying I have to get home and my friend actually had to grab my shoulder to keep me from leaving whether they liked it or not I was scared and worried that my husband hadn’t heard the warning and that he would be prepared, but when it was over and I got home he had taken care of it they were huddled in the bathroom with cushions off the couch around them, I thanked God and all was better.

So thankful that God kept you and your family safe! I was praying for you! Isn’t it amazing how God’s Word and principle can apply to virtually any situation we find ourselves in! So comforting! Have a wonderful Sunday!
