The Massive Cat In My Backyard!
The other day, I spotted the “creature” that’s been bringing dead birds and squirrels to our back door.
A HUGE cat!
Apparently this cat lives in the drainpipe right behind our house .
Does it’s size concern you? Do you think it *could* be a small bobcat? Maybe I’m just crazy!

Be happy that he.she is bringing you gifts. That is a good sign! lol! 😉
My cat loving hubs says it could be.
Now this is me talking… stay away from that cat. He could have all kinds of weird kitty diseases!

Wow, That is a huge cat! I would be a little nervous!
.-= Wendy´s last blog ..Free Sample of Dove Daily Treatment Conditioner =-.
He’s not a bobcat just a HUGE tom. He might have some other type of wild cat mixed in with him, though. As he is bringing you gifts, you’re a member of his family so be grateful he’s on your side and keeping other kitties… and probably coons at his size… away. 🙂
I don’t think he has any bobcat in him but he does look like he may have some ocelot in him with the markings. he is a really big tom though. The gifts are a good sign though.
I think that particular breed of cat is called Gigantron. Seriously. Massive cat.
And I really don’t like cats. That would totally freak me out. Actually we used to hear a cat meowing under our house all the time in the middle of the night. Pretty freaky to wake up to at 2AM!

@Kristen, Thanks for your comment! I don’t really like cats either! I’m glad he can’t get under the house…that would weird me out! 🙂
WOW!!! That IS a huge cat!!!!! Do you think it’s feral?
@Muthering Heights, I have no clue what kind of cat it is. The consensus seems to be that he’s just a massive tom cat. I just don’t want him coming too close.
Well…….my hubs and I thought it could have a bit of ocelot in it, then I saw the post from Shana who thought the same thing. It’s hard for me to tell how big it really is but since you are concerned, I have no doubt it is LARGE. Wonder if it has a “family” in the neighborhood and just plays outside.?. As long as it is not being destructive to your property, consider the presents it leaves you a good thing. LOL
Blessings,
Selena
Creepy!
That cat is huge and SCARY! Oh my!
.-= Cari´s last blog ..Sunday Dinner =-.
Am I odd in that the cat doesn’t really scare me? I mean, it would probably scare me if he was pouncing on me or going after my kids, but he just looks like, well, a big cat to me. 🙂 But I’m a lot more frightened of dogs than cats… comes from having been attacked by one. I agree with all the previous comments though– it’s a very good sign that the kitty is leaving you gifts!
.-= JessieLeigh´s last blog ..Shark Fin =-.
@JessieLeigh, You’re not odd at all! The cat doesn’t scare me as long as it stays away. It seems to be afraid when we are outside, so it goes back in the drain pipe.
My hubs was attacked by a dog when he was a kid…had to get 20 something stitches. That’s no fun at all!
I agree with the above…I don’t think it’s a bobcat. I think they usually have short tails. He does look big, though. I think they’re beautiful! Wouldn’t want to meet one, but still beautiful!

@Mama Zen, Ha! He’s huge, but keeps his distance, so I’m good with that! 🙂
Looks like he or she has been eating well! LOL
Odd that he lives where he lives … is he friendly or skittish?
.-= Brandy @ Happily Blended´s last blog ..Networking Solutions =-.
@Brandy @ Happily Blended, He’s friendly in that he’s brought “gifts” to us, but when we are outside he runs away. I’m kinda glad about that!
he is small to the cat my son has, bearing gifts is a sign he accepts you and thinks you are his family. Maybe he was there before you???
son did say not to pet the cat, even if its someone elses’ pet since he is bringing dead animals he could pick up some issues.you can call the local animal shelter and get advice on how to remove him.

I was wondering that too.
Have a great Wednesday!

Wow! He’d scare me! The striped tail DOES seem a bit un-normal-cat like…. Maybe a cross between a Racoon and a cat…a Raccat or a Catcoon?

@Rachel @ Grasping for Objectivity, Rachel, you rock! You totally had me gasping for air…Raccat or Catcoon…hilarious! 🙂
WOW!!! That’s one enormous kitty!!!!!!! yikes…

I agree with some of the others. He looks like a big tomcat, AND he looks well fed. He’s just a regular old tabby cat. Feral cats don’t usually look that healthy. He probably has a home nearby and visits you! And gifts are nice. Just don’t step on the porch before you look! 🙂 (Our female cat was the mouse killer of all time. She’d bring us 4 or 5 A DAY. UGH)

Aww! Don’t worry that is a Maine Coon cat. They have a very large bone structure and are awesome cats. Even though I’m not a cat person I adopted a Maine Coon when I was in college and she towered over other cats but was gentle and sweet.

We had an 18 lb cat so I think your visitor is just a big cat also. Our cats always brought their prizes to the door & acted so proud. I definitely wouldn’t try to pet it but sounds like it’s harmless.
Big kitty!

We have 5 outside cats all with striped tails varying from a very small one that was the runt of the litter to a very very large one 22 lbs. Just like everyone says about the leaving you “gifts” he is saying you are his family and wants your acceptance and approval. He wont bother you other than the unpleasent gifts. Odds are that even if you tried to get near him he would run.
Here, kitty kitty kitty! Meow!! 🙂

That does look like a big cat….esp. that tail! However, it is a sign of affection that he brings you gifts so you should feel flattered! Ha!

It looks like a tabby. but it could be a Maine Coon cat they are biggish and have stripes like that. More than likely its a domestic cat type that is wild. poor kitty. Check out Rag Doll cats too they are HUGE and loveable
