Jumping In & Setting Goals

I’ve been thinking a lot the past few days about goals and the importance of having them. If I don’t make goals, I won’t have anything to strive for. If I have specific goals, then when I accomplish something I will be able to mark off that goal as “fulfilled.” A goal-less life is not one for me. I’ve always had unspoken goals, but writing them down and having accountability makes it easier to stick with it. If I’m going to set goals, then I’m going to do it right so I don’t shoot myself in the foot before I even get started. Hubby and I each have personal goals, we have family goals and financial goals. I’m going to be listing and keeping up with my personal goals here. So I’ve decided to jump in on the Philippians 3:14 carnival over at Which Proverbs 14:1Woman.

My Personal Goals

Daily Goals

  • Spend time in God’s Word and prayer each morning. I’m reading Proverbs and Deuteronomy at the moment. My devotional staples are Spurgeon’s Faith’s Checkbook and Streams in the Desert by Mrs. Charles Cowman.
  • Write in journal about Ridley, his growth, development and accomplishments
  • Take vitamins and supplements
  • Make wise eating choices
  • Exercise each day–Curves, Bicycling (with Ridley), Running, Walking or Workout DVD
  • Blog something each day.
  • Play with Ridley…developmental activities!
  • Read to Ridley

Reading Goals

Finish these books:

  • Filling the Empty Places by Beneth Peters Jones
  • The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace
  • Aromatherapy for the Healthy Child by Valerie Ann Worwood

Ongoing Projects

  • Finish planting flowers
  • Keep up with watering so they don’t die as victims of my brown thumb!!!
  • Make curtains for the living room and kitchen
  • Clean out closets

Homemaking

  • Keep up with laundry–fold all of it. (Those of you who know me, know I HATE to fold laundry!)
  • 15 minutes of clutter pick up each day
  • Leave the kitchen clean at night
  • Cook healthful meals for our family
  • Spend a little time each day to coupon and deal find!
  • Plan meals using up what is in the pantry, freezer and fridge
  • Stick to grocery budget

Ok, well that’s all I can think of for now. We’ll see in a week how I did! Head on over to Which Proverbs 14:1 Woman? to see more Philippians 3:15 Friday posts!

  1. Great job sis! You have some great goals. So glad you joined in this week! I’ve really enjoyed the accountability of updating each week, etc.

  2. LOL I love the goal about watering the plants so they don’t die. I can definitely relate. My daughter brought home a little soybean plant from school. I dutifully watered it, and it promptly died.

  3. I’d like to make some curtains for my kitchen–I can’t bring myself to buy the ones I like–they don’t seem that expensive at first, but I have lots of windows and it sure does add up. Maybe I’ll haul out the sewing maching and see what I can do!
