Blissdom 2012 Thoughts

This post has been “in draft” for over a week. It is taking me a while to process Blissdom. I’ve been to Blissdom for the last three years and this conference was my fave. It was the perfect blend of amazing speakers, fabulous roommates, great connections with bloggers and brands and meeting new people.

I roomed with Cyndi, Traci and Tonya and we had the greatest time.  I’ve always attended conferences with my family, but there’s just something awesome about growing friendships when you see each other with bed hair and no makeup. 🙂

Tonya and Me

My heart was so encouraged and refocused during the conference beginning with Jon Acuff‘s keynote on Friday morning.  He is hilarious, thoughtful, engaging and I think he captured everyone’s attention.

He made me consider what is most important, why I do what I do and how I can do what I do better.  {That’s a mouthful.} It is so ridiculously easy in the blogging world to compare yourself with others.

Jon reminded us, “Don’t compare your beginnings with someone’s middle.” Yes. Yes. Yes.

I completely enjoyed listening to Clair Diaz Ortiz about finding joy in the present with her Present Principle Manifesto. Amazing.

Michael Hyatt‘s session perfectly wrapped up the weekend with his Personal Life Plan. Wow. Amazing. He had us really think about how we want to be remembered by making us think about our funerals. It might seem a bit morbid, but the exercise of thinking about, writing down ideas and discussing this topic is invaluable.

Oreck Bloggers!

I loved, LOVED getting to have lunch with the CEO of Oreck and the other Oreck Bloggers. What a great group!

It was a great weekend and I really look forward to another Blissdom conference next year!

Happy Wednesday!

  1. I loved Jon Acuff and Michael Hyatt, too! I missed Claire Diaz Ortiz, but really enjoyed Jeff Goins. It DOES take time to process all of that good stuff-I totally agree.

  2. I still haven’t done my Blissdom recap….I think I’m STILL processing the whole thing!! My brain was on overload for the first few days after being home! It was such a pleasure to meet you in person & even more of a pleasure to room with you!! So excited to see you again come June at the Haven conference!! Hope you are having a great week my friend!! 🙂

  3. Hi Myra,
I am a fairly new blogger but keep hearing how awesome Blissdom is. I wanted to go so badly this year. I actually live 20 minutes outside of Nashville. I am definitely planning on going next year as everyone seems to take away so much! I’m so glad your experience was worth while, thanks for sharing.Lesley
