Southern Plate Tailgate Show {Cookbook Giveaway!}

Have you heard of SouthernPlate.com? It is the most fabulous website for down-home Southern recipes, humor and family life. Best of all, Christy Jordan the awesome blogger and cook behind Southern Plate lives only 30 minutes from me!! Can I say that we are neighbors? Ha!

This past Thursday night a group of friends and I enjoyed the very first Southern Plate cooking show. Can I just say that Christy Jordan is not only an amazing cook, but she has a fabulous stage presence! She has a wonderful gift for making you feel right at home…even in a huge auditorium.

We enjoyed the sponsor exhibits before show and came away with a bunch of new recipes, coupons and various other goodies.

I think this is my favorite cookbook ever.  I normally get bored when reading typical cookbooks, but the categories, photos and family history of Southern Plate are so intriguing!  Christy did a fabulous job on this book!

One of my favorite parts of the show was that everyone in the audience got to test taste everything that Christy made on stage!! The food was delicious, of course!

And miracle of miracles….I actually won the last prize!  {yes, I squealed when they called my number!} It’s a galvanized bin full of Southern Living – the new 1001 Ways To Cook Southern cookbook, 3 other small cookbooks, Southern Living October edition, Coke, Chips, Wickles, Sauce and a Camo blanket.

What a fun evening we had!

    1.) I grew up curled up on the couch reading cookbooks with my mom in the evenings (OK, I still do that, only with my hubby…he doesn’t read cookbooks tho’ 🙂
    2.) I just moved to TX from SC…still the South, but a different kind of South. 😉

I love cookbooks by southern cooks and can’t wait to get my hands on Southern Plate. I wish I had known about the cooking show in Florence. Sounds like it was a blast.

      I hope you win! We will see! Tailgating is what people do before/during football games around here. It’s a HUGE deal. 🙂
