Sunday Meditations – Earth Has No Sorrow…

by Myra on April 10, 2010

In the light of two different friends losing their babies in the last week, my heart has been heavy. I’ve been there. I remember. But as this very old song reminds me, “earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.”

Come, Ye Disconsolate

Come, ye disconsolate, where’er ye languish,
Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.
Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish;
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Joy of the desolate, light of the straying,
Hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure!
Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying,
“Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot cure.”

Here see the Bread of Life, see waters flowing
Forth from the throne of God, pure from above.
Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing
Earth has no sorrow but heaven can remove.

by Thomas Moore, 1816

Be encouraged and comforted today!

Wow that was powerful! God is good! All my prayers go out to everyone who is or has experienced something like this.

I think I should do something like this on my site maybe I’ll call it Sincere Sunday or something ;) I’ll link it back to your Sunday meditations.

Many Blessings!

You know, I miscarried my first child 20 years ago and I still miss the child who might have been. Thank you for posting this beautiful song.

This weekend I had a baby shower for my dear friend who miscarried three years ago and then dealt with infertility. Jesus really is the great healer. Thanks for pointing us all back to Him.

Thanks for posting the great hymn, “Come, Ye Disconsolate.” It’s a wonderful reminder that even when others don’t understand what we’re going through, the Lord does. The following link has posted the most beautiful rendition of the hymn I’ve ever heard.
