Giving Challenge Update

We are enjoying the Giving Challenge. It’s such a blessing to give to others — no matter how large or how small.

After reading Kelly’s posts all week about her time in El Salvador with Compassion International, my heart has been even more burdened to do more, to give more.

I’m looking forward to a new week with new opportunities. Here’s what we did this week!

Day 9: We hosted a missionary reception at our home. It was such a fabulous time hearing about the missionary’s work in Kenya.

Day 10: We purchased a Christmas Care Package through Voice of the Martyrs for a Vietnamese child. The package includes clothes, toiletries, books, vitamins, a toy and school supplies.

Day 11: I participated in the music ministry at church.

Day 12: I had planned on taking lunch to my friend who recently had surgery, but she and her family have had a nasty bug, so I spent time “visiting” with her on the phone.

Day 13: This might sound a little silly, but I chauffeured my parents and the missionary who was visiting a couple hours away to the missionary’s next stop. While we were there, my Mom and I got to spent time chatting with and encouraging the pastor’s wife.

Day 14: This evening, Ridley and I visited Memaw, my 94 year old grandmother. I rolled her hair, so she will feel pretty and hopefully she will feel well enough to come to church in the morning! She’s so mad at me for not letting her pay me. I just think it’s silly for her to pay me to enjoy spending time with her.

Today, I found this fantastic, free and easy way to give — for every Holiday e-card that is sent, Kraft will donate 10 meals to Feeding America! How awesome is that!?!

I also participated today in MckMama’s commenting fundraiser. For every comment that was left today before 12 noon, they are donating $1 to three great organizations! Today they raised $1620.00 to be divided between String of Pearls, Sufficient Grace and the Liz Logelin Foundation!

This next week, I’m hoping to get the canned food drive idea up and running and I’m super excited about finding more ways to give!
