I {Heart} Young Living Essential Oils

by Myra Hope

Happy Friday! I’m excited for the weekend and even more excited for several days of sunshine. It’s been dreary and rainy for nearly two weeks straight. Yay for getting in some natural Vitamin D3 from the sun.

I’m really thrilled to tell you about Young Living essential oils. They have blessed my family in so many ways.

I learned about Young Living several years ago and enjoyed using Thieves, Lavender and Lemon oil. I finally joined YL in August 2012, when I ordered my Everyday Oils kit. When it was delivered, I looked at it for three weeks before diving in. I asked my friend Alyssa, “What in the world am I supposed to do with these oils?” Ha! Today, I don’t leave home without them. :)

I’ve fallen in love with SO many Young Living oils. I love diffusing oils and applying them topically. Young Living oils can also be taken internally because they are 100% therapeutic grade unlike cheaper perfume grade essential oils. I usually dilute my oils with coconut oil because my skin tends to be extra sensitive.

These are a few of my favorite YL oils:

  • Thieves – I {heart} Thieves. It is an *incredible* immune boosting blend. I’ve been diffusing it and rubbing it {diluted in coconut oil} on our all our feet before bed to help keep us well while all the crud is going around.
  • Lemon – I’ve used Lemon for an earache and the pain was gone quickly.
  • Lavender – Back at Christmas, I burned my finger on the oven and I immediately doused the burn with lavender. I had zero burning pain and it healed very quickly.
  • Peace & Calming® – For my sometimes high-strung self {haha!}…and my 4 year old, I love diffusing Peace & Calming.
  • Valor® – Oh y’all. I don’t leave the house without putting on Valor first. It’s aroma is sweet like perfume and it is so calming for me.

I love learning more and more about natural ways to stay strong and healthy and heal our bodies as much as possible without synthetics. Essential oils are blessing my family in our journey of natural living.

Learn more about joining Young Living as I share more details here. Feel free to leave questions in the comments or send me an email!

Have a marvelous weekend, lovely people!

xoxo

Glad to read this post… I love tea tree oil; use it for many purposes. Do u have that diffuser going in your home? All day? Just curious as we were at my in-laws at Christmas and they had YL oils going and I could hardly take the smell. Almost made me stomach sick/dizzy. Plus, our lil’ daughter complained of a headache while we were there. I just found it overpowering and wonder if you do?

Hi Kendra! I use my diffuser every night while we sleep. I usually only run it during the day if we’re sick. I’m curious as to what oils your in-laws were diffusing and how many drops they put in the diffuser. I typically only use 5-6 drops with the full amount of water in the diffuser. It doesn’t seem too strong at all. If the smell is too strong, then the water/oil ratio definitely needs to be changed. I’m SO sorry that the diffused oils made you and your daughter feel bad. :(

I don’t want to sound holier than thou, but I always thought that essential oils were not good…as in they are linked to the spirit world in a bad way. Maybe part of the reason I feel this way is because I had a friend whose mom used them and she saw first hand the affect they had on her…strange, demonic things.

Myra, I know your heart is totally toward God and the only reason I am bringing this up here is because I thought you might not be aware of this. I’m not saying that using essential oils is necessarily evil but please do be aware that they are also associated with some very evil, ungodly practices.

Thanks for your blog…I enjoy reading it!

Hi Lydia,

I’ve recently come across questions about this, so I’ve been doing some thinking on it. I grew up on natural medicine – chiropractic, herbs, supplements and homeopathics. All of these could be associated with “new age-ish” stuff if someone wanted to make that association. I passionately believe in natural medicine – God gave it to us. Man in his sinful condition has perverted both natural medicine and MANY other things in creation that God created good. I have seen *so* much good come from natural medicine and I believe it is the best way for us to take care of our bodies…versus pharmaceutical chemicals.

Essential oils were used throughout Scripture. I recently learned that the word “incense” {the altar of incense and other uses of the word} would better be translated “Frankincense.” It was the holy anointing oil. You’ll remember that both Frankincense and Myrrh were brought as gifts to Jesus. His feet were anointed with oils throughout His ministry as well. Oils were likely used to embalm Christ’s body when he was buried.

I also thought about Yoga because when I was growing up I heard it was bad because of the New Age connection. If you do yoga trying to get balance from yourself and exercising and breathing is all about YOU then it’s a problem. We have to look to Christ for our balance, our healing and all our needs. Obviously Philippians 4:8 tells us what we should be thinking on. And yoga is great exercise, strengthening and stretching. ;)

So, all that say, that I believe that essential oils are a gift from God for our health and healing – just like good food, sunlight (D3), water etc. Many pagan religions worship all parts of creation. How silly, I know! My “upline” in Young Living are all believers and I’m in a Facebook group with them. It is amazing to watch believers use these oils for God’s glory.

I hope that helps clarify my position on oils and maybe it helps you too. Thank you for your sweet comment! I am so blessed to have the best readers in the world!! xoxo

Myra, that makes sense. I don’t know if I personally would feel okay using them, but I respect where you stand on this issue. Thanks for not taking offense and for kindly explaining what you believe.

Many blessings!
Lydia
