Happy Leap Day!

Since Leap Day only happens every four years, I thought it deserved it’s own post of recognition. The cartoon below just cracks me up. It perfectly summarizes how I feel about this day.

I’ve always been intrigued by Leap Day. It’s hard to wrap my mind around an extra day that finds itself on the calendar every few years.

I think I’m going to show Ridley how to leap like a frog and we’ll play with his little toy frogs to celebrate. 🙂

Were you born on February 29th? How did you celebrate your birthday?

Are you doing anything special to celebrate Leap Day this year?

  1. De-lurking to say that today is my birthday!! I am celebrating #8!! I love having a Leap Year birthday. Here’s why: I celebrate every year on the 28th & people always send me cards & gifts. But, every 4th year, I get extra cards & gifts & birthday wishes because everyone realizes it is extra-special for me. In fact, 4 years ago I appeared on Martha Stewart’s show for her special Leap Day show. Everyone in the audience had a Feb. 29th birthday. Pretty cool, huh??!!

  2. Leap-frogging sounds like a great way to celebrate this day!

My youngest son Lee was born on March 29. Leap Year is a big deal to him, because it’s the only time when has an 11/12 birthday! We don’t celebrate fractions of birthdays, but he likes to count down the months until his next birthday rolls around. 🙂

Well, I should say we don’t USUALLY celebrate fractions of birthdays. I did end up making him some of his favorite cookies for Leap Day!
