Vintage Light Fixture Bowl

/

A couple of weeks ago, while I was at a friend’s house helping her clean {they are renovating!}, I spotted an old light fixture bowl on the kitchen counter and asked about it. My friend was going to throw it away, so she said I could have it! Woot!

I’m a sucker for old stuff…especially when it’s free, so I brought the light bowl home!

{Please ignore the dust on the candle holder. Blush}

I love the details, the shape, the character. Yowza!

Last week, when we had a housewarming party, I used it as part of the table centerpiece.

Who would have thought that an old light fixture bowl would be so versatile!

Granted those pears are fake, but seriously, you could use it for a real fruit bowl.

Or a chip bowl, so your kiddos can snack. Ha!

I’m planning on using it to serve a lettuce salad soon. Won’t that be pretty?

For now, my light fixture bowl is on a side table in my living room. It adds so much charm to my horribly scratched side table that is just begging for a makeover. That project will be coming up in the next few weeks or so! 🙂

How adorable is this light fixture vase?!  LOVE!

So, what do you think?  Would you use a light fixture bowl to decorate with or serve food?

    1. Aww, Gina. I had so much fun with you too!!!! Thanks for not thinking I’m a nut job for decorating with light fixture bowls. (blush) 🙂

Let’s get together again soon!! 🙂

  1. I echo Joii- I would never have come up with that on my own! It looks like it fits right into your home’s schema! I bet it’d be pretty with a bunch of vintage Christmas ornaments, too.

  2. I’m not completely sold yet, but it’s growing on me. Guess that means I’m “vintage” now since I remember those “new” from my childhood. Ha! Love the vase idea though!

  3. I love it!!! Thanks for posting! The possibilities are endless! Knowing me, mine would end up with some succulents tucked in it! 🙂 And, I’m always in need of decorative pedestals to showcase new treasures or ……….or anything fun!

  4. very cute old fixture and so creative…my only thing would be to make sure there is no lead in the paint they used to use on these fixtures when serving food.

  5. I like the vase idea A LOT but food in the others scares me. Those were meant for lights, not food, so I would be afraid there was something not food safe in them.
sparkling74´s last blog post ..Still Kickin

  6. Found you through Tatertots & Jello…I love this, I actually have that exact light in my house that I plan on replacing – what a great idea!!

  7. I have two light covers on the garden slope/bank and they have lights in them..They glow amongst the myrtle plants..nice
