Virtual Thrift Shopping!

I thought it would be so fun to go thrifting together – virtually. So, I put Ridley in the car and we went for a fun morning of thrift shopping. I videoed with my new Filp camera and took pictures along the way.

I sound like a total hick in this video. Oh my word, that’s embarrassing! LOL!

You may need to click through to the blog to watch the video. It’s so fun!

I spent $7 the entire morning and scored this fabulous vintage hat box {I’m a sucker for old luggage!} and two red pots that are perfect for a Valentine’s Day craft.

{At least I think it’s a hatbox}

I realize that the crazy tag is miserably out of focus…oh well.  It’s just so cool that whoever owned this piece of luggage lived in North Alabama…where I live! 🙂

So, what do you think?  Do you like virtual thrift shopping with me?  Want to do it again?

Have you found any amazing thrift store treasures lately?

  1. I enjoyed your thrift store jaunt! ;D
I live in SE Alabama, and I think you sounded FINE! I used to live in Atlanta where we had some really nice thrift stores…living down here among more modest folk, most of the thrift stores in my area are not worth the trip. :o/ Sorry to say! There are many antique stores and flea markets, but the prices are pretty high.
    Have a blessed day! <

  2. I actually love it! How fun. That is definitely a hat-box designed so a woman of style can travel without crushing her hats! I hated watching and falling in love with the China Hutch and knowing it is half the county away from me. I so would have snagged that for my house! Thank you for doing this. Can’t wait until you show us what you have done!

  3. The red “hat box” was actually used for storing a wig. They used to use styrofoam head & neck forms & attach the wig, then placed it in the red “hat box” you have found! I remember my grandmother using them.

  4. Don’t be silly, you sound just fine! I like your Southern-ness. I’m from Middle Tennessee…and you just fit right in. I have family in Northern Alabama, and you speak faster than they do, haha.
Love Love Love the virtual thrifting thing. You’re cute as a button and your blog is one of my favorites! Keep up the good work. I can’t WAIT to see what you create with your ‘treasures’. 😀

  5. rhoyea19 is right. Your red luggage is a wig case. I used to work as a receptionist at a beauty shop (a few years ago – we won’t discuss how many). Patrons would bring in their wigs to be styled. We had to label the wig cases so we wouldn’t get them mixed up. That one looks almost as good as new! Have fun with it…can’t wait to see how you decide to use it.

  6. What a great idea! Loved it! I’ve been looking for candlesticks just like those! Ha! Guess I’m going thrift shopping! 🙂

  7. I really enjoyed your video…you have better treasures at your thrift stores than I have found at ours 🙂 I’m really anxious to see what you do with your treasures. Please keep it up!

  8. I think this is a great idea… I loved going along with you……. And you don’t sound like a hick. I LOVE the accent.

  9. I enjoyed the little outing! Your thrift shops look better than the ones in my area. 🙁

I am not very brave about redoing pricey things around my house. I noticed you mentioned spray painting the brass light fixture. My new-old house is filled with polished brass fixtures that I can’t afford to replace. I think I need advice and encouragement (and a way to convince my hubby that this will work!). Can you help? 😉

By the way, you sound as if you could be one of my sisters…and we’re not hicks! 🙂

  10. That was so much fun! 🙂
Loved every minute of it! I’m from California and think your accent is adorable! (Of course my family is from Arkansas/Oklahoma… Hee 🙂

I would love to see more of this type of thing-if you’re up for it. 🙂

Thanks so much for all your wonderful inspiration!
    You brightened my morning. 🙂

  11. Girl, I was just thinking about you last night and wondering how the settling in was going. Then I thought about some yard sale posts that you’ve done in the past and my mind started thinking I needed to spend a Saturday prowling around with you. Just me and you and my Belly! Hope you have wonderful day, sweet friend!

  12. I think we live in the same city! I’ve been checking out thrift stores for a desk forever! I saw everything else in your video there the last time I was but not that cute desk! LOL =) Enjoyed the video!

  13. What a fun day! Makes me want to get out right now and go thrifing!! :o) Yep, do it again, please. Can’t wait to see what you do with the pretty red box. Love, Bettie

  14. I also live in Huntsville and was wondering what thrift shops are you going to. I am having the hardest time finding ones.

  15. I really LOVE this feature, the only down side is I live too far away to buy the stuff! But that’s ok I enjoy the virtual element of it and my money stays in my purse!

  16. Loved it! I look forward to more. I was just out shopping in Thrift Stores yesterday and it is great to get some creative ideas. Thanks for sharing!

  17. I LOVED this! I am not from the south, or anywhere even remotely close to the south and I didn’t think that you sounded like a hick at all. In fact, I like you more now because you have the cutest, southern belle, accent! I love this idea. I love it because I not only got to see what you found (I am drooling over that antique frame), but I also got to see a little bit of your personality. I can’t wait to check out the rest of your blog posts and to visit again!
Keep up the great work and film more of your darling, southern self. (I don’t sound weird and stalk-ish like do I? Because I so am not!! Promise!!)

  20. I’m new to your blog and just saw your thrift shop video. Loved it!

I’m like you in that even the cutest stuff at thrift stores has got to be a good deal (for me or my clients) or else I pass it up. It does help to have a friend who works at my favorite places 🙂

Stop by to visit me @ http://www.cndesigns.biz and join my blog. You won’t be seeing any videos of me though. I’m just not that cute and thank goodness for photo shopping out wrinkles! LOL

  21. Love it!! I think I need a little mother-daughter thrifting with my little girl this weekend!
