Change – In The Air & In My Heart

/ /

On Thursday, I shared with you the awesomeness of meeting online friends in real life.  I compared this adventure to falling into a huge bowl of Banana Pudding.  Little did I know how much awesomeness I was in for.  The Relevant Conference is the first of it’s kind – a conference designed for Christian blogging women.

Thoughts, conversations, friendships, words, hugs, smiles, tears and prayers are bouncing around in my heart and mind. Honestly, I’m not quite sure how to put the last four days of my life into words. I’m processing everything that I’ve absorbed, but it’s going to take me awhile to get through it all.

My heart is just so full.

This past weekend, I didn’t just meet online friends in real life.

I met God.

I faced heart issues and my totally-out-of-whack-priorities for the first time in a very long time.  In the words of my sweet friend Sarah Mae, I’ve not come home to build my blog, but I’ve come home to build my family. I truly love my readers. I love writing. I love crafting. I love creating.

But I love God and my family more.  Twenty years from now, I don’t want to look back and wish that I had spent more time with God and my husband and our son.

So, because of the change in my heart, change is coming to my blog.

Good change.

Instead of posting six days a week like I’ve been doing for the last 1 1/2 years, I’ll be posting fewer, but more intentional posts.  I’m thrilled with this decision. It will relieve stress in my heart and home and it will give you some rockin’ awesome content throughout the week.

In November, I’m participating in the 30 Day Giving Challenge and I’m hosting an Online Baby Shower for a pregnancy crisis center. Please consider joining me in these wonderful causes!  I have crafts, diy projects and recipes to share with you and I’m moving Friday Fails to the first Friday of each month!  🙂

Trust me. I’m not going anywhere.  But my family deserves my best. Not my leftovers.

I’m so thankful and blessed to have been able to attend The Relevant Conference.  I’m thankful to my husband who kept Ridley for three days straight without a single complaint and who drove 11.5 hours yesterday on the way home.   I’m thankful to Sarah Mae, Dana and Jessie who were the most wonderful hostesses ever. I’m thankful to all the wonderful friends I re-connected with and for the new friendships that were made.  I’m thankful to the sponsors who made the conference possible.

And I’m thankful to God who came and changed my heart, soul and mind.

  1. My sweet friend, how I was so happy to wrap my arms around you once again at Relevant. I sit writing through blurry eyes as you have touched me so with your words and reflections.

I was sad we didn’t get to spend more time together, but it so warmed my heart to be able to look across the room and see you, my Good Morning Girl!

    love and more hugs!

PS: my girls had all kinds of questions about Ridley when I got home….they just love that boy!

    1. Sweet Cherie, I just love you. I’m so blessed that we are friends and that we are Good Morning Girls! Love, hugs and lots of love to your sweet girls from Ridley. 🙂

  2. So glad you had a great time! From the time I heard of Relevant I knew I wanted to go, but we had a family trip planned already, so I’m hoping for next year. I love what you said about posting fewer, but more intentional posts. I love blogging, but my biggest obstacle has been feeling like I can’t keep up with it because I’m sacrificing things I need to do for my family. Trying to post something everyday is not logical to me, but taking the time to occasionally write a more intentional post benefits everyone.

    1. Thank you for your words Brittany! You are so on the right track! Keep first things first and I totally can’t wait to meet you next year! 🙂

  3. I love your change. Our Lord and our Family should always come first! I struggle with this myself and I don’t run a blog except for my family and close friends, at least nothing of this nature. Don’t think you’ll lose me as a reader, it only makes me want to check in with you more!

    1. Oh Amy! How much you were missed this weekend! Alyssa and I just kept saying, “I wish Amy was here.” I hope your foot is healing well. You are much thought of and much prayed for. Now I just need to plan my trip to TX! 🙂
      Love you girl!

  4. Myra,

I love this post! It was a pleasure meeting you and your sweet husband and son. You were a great encouragement to me, in which I won’t forget. Wish we lived closer because I know we would have loads more to talk about and share with one another. None of us will be the same after this weekend and it has been a pleasure to be in the presence of God, and my sisters in the Lord.

I look forward to your posts in the future.

    God Bless

  5. LOVE this! I came back a better blogger – not with a list of ways to make my blog better. I love the focus on Christ, not competition, from our weekend together. Was great to meet you and your family! 🙂

    1. Ashley, it was fabulous to meet you too! 🙂 Yes, the Christ-focus instead of the competition/growth-focus was most refreshing!

  6. You just expressed perfectly what I struggled to put into words in my post today. In my post, I just kept typing “He Met Me” (and in fact used it as my title), then I clicked on your post and saw the same words. How amazing is the work God is doing in our hearts!

It was great to see you again! 🙂

Hope to see you again soon! 🙂

    1. Thank you Sarah! I admit that it is a little bit scary, but I know that slowing down my posting schedule is what God wants. If He blesses than all the glory will be His! 🙂 xoxo

    1. @Darlene, Yes! 🙂 My social media buttons are right under my “Welcome” in the right sidebar. You can “subscribe via rss” which is your reader or “via email.”

Let me know if it doesn’t work for you! 🙂

  9. Myra, what a sweet post! So glad you had such a great time & experience with the Lord at Relevant. I made the decision recently to step back from blogging so much too & it feels so good. I think a whole lot of other bloggers will have to face the very same issues, keeping family priority. It’s so easy to get out of whack & strive for more, more, more, but you’re so right, our families come first. I’m so happy that you are making this decision. It will be blessed!

  10. Oh it was so awesome getting to meet you too. i love this post! especially love how you are not going to grow a blog but a family. love it. may we keep strong in our new conviction!!

  11. Blessings to you Myra!

After reading your post, and many of my fellow bloggy friends posts, about Relevant I’ve decided I must figure out a way to come next year! I love the truth, the laughter, and the intentionality that you all are sharing.

    Blessings to you!

  13. So thankful that you encountered Jesus while you were away. It’s so important that we hear HIS voice in this blogging world. I am excited for you, and for your changes. It’s important to have our priorities right and I know you will speak volumes to me through allowing the Lord to do His will through you.

  14. Myra that was a beautiful post! I’m so glad I met your sweet face in person. And I’m so glad to be not only blogger friends but sisters in Christ. Keep on sharing Him!
    Blessings,
    Cyndi

  15. What a gorgeous resolution. So RIGHT. This Relevant Conference sounds amazing. I am so wanting to go….
I have come to a similar conclusion about my blogging. Even talked it over with my readers and in the poll they say posting 2-3 times a week is good. (My goal this year — that I didn’t meet — was 4xs per week.) I think that with mom blogs, our readers don’t necesarily demand the “daily blog post” that so many blogging experts tell us about. Shoot, our readers don’t have time to read that many posts either.

  16. So excited for you. I have entirely stopped my blogging, after feeling convicted in much the same way. Trying to give my family my best, and if there is time leftover (which there isn’t) then I’ll put up a post (which I haven’t).

Love the pics of you and Alyssa at the conference. Hope you found some time to visit the Hershey factory. 🙂

  17. Babe, you aren’t the only one coming back a new person. What God has done through you is reverberating in my life and mind and will impact the world forever through you giving more to your needy husband and little son. Our children, and generations to come, will be impacted by this weekend.

  18. Good morning!! I am on your site for the first time today via Southern Hospitality…. and WOW!!! I am new to blogging and actually do not have a site yet… but i follow “Goodbye House.. Hello Home ” and Leslie says just about the same thing about the conference!!! I am soooo wishing I had been there!!!!! I will absolutely be back to your site…. thank you so much for sharing!!!!

  19. Sounds like you had a wonderful time at the conference. And I applaud your decision to give more to your family and take some stress off of you and them:-)

I know blogging can be difficult to maintain. I seem to run out of ideas on a weekly basis:-) But yours seems very natural and very interactive, so it’s evident you have done an awesome job here.
