Friday Fails – Full of ‘Em This Week!

Photobucket

This past week has been the longest, slowest, most drama-filled and “fail”-filled week of my life. It’s funny looking back, but it was no fun living through each day.

Last week I told you a little bit about my “leprous” leg.  I haven’t shared how icky my leg looked, but if you follow me on Twitter, then you might have seen it.  This right leg of mine caused quite the event this past weekend, ahem, week.

Thankfully, it’s healing and I don’t think I’m going to lose my leg any more. Whew!

This leg infection resulted in three trips to the doctor, two Emergency Room visits, five trips to the pharmacy, three shots, one IV, two (or three)  allergic reactions to medication, and more money than I care to think about.  We have great insurance, but the copays definitely added up!

It all started with a mosquito bite.

In the middle of my leg drama, Ridley came down with a high fever on Sunday. I couldn’t figure out what the problem was, it was very weird.  On Monday, we both went to the doctor (for me it was a follow up visit to my ER visits) and she thought that he just had a virus and to wait it out.

By Wednesday, Ridley still didn’t want to eat or drink, so we went back to the doctor.  As we waited to see the doctor, I began to notice little red spots on Ridley’s face and neck. The doctor said that they were probably related to the virus, but she didn’t tell me what the virus was. Ridley also had ear infections. Poor little man.

After talking to my friend Amy, whose daughter had “spots” too, I figured out that Ridley had every symptom of roseola.  Finally, this was starting to make sense.

When it rains, it pours.

{And…my adorable pregnant sister has had severe abdominal pain from a cyst this week and her daughter has roseola now too. Lovely.}

So, what didn’t get done this week?

  • Bills didn’t get paid
  • Groceries didn’t get bought (except for the few my MIL picked up on Saturday)
  • Suppers didn’t get made – nope, not ONE single supper
  • Dishes didn’t get done – at all.  Ewww…
  • Mail didn’t get sent
  • Phone calls didn’t get returned

What did get done?

  • Lots of baby snuggles
  • Resting and recuperating
  • Spills and broken bowls
  • One load of laundry – my saving grace.
  • Feeding liquid via syringe – a miserable task

While many things got pushed aside this week, I don’t consider it too much of a fail.  I won’t be taking good health for granted any more.

How has your week been?

  1. Aw, sweetie, so glad to here that it sounds like the storm is passing. What a miserably, trying kind of a week. It is TRUE what they say- “when it rains, it pours”. Baby snuggles definitely belong at the top of the “important” list though… so I still think your week was a success! (p.s. I think I envisioned your leg looking far more hideous in my mind, so I’m kind of grateful for the picture! ;))

  2. Brendon had roseola a few weeks ago. He had a high fever for a few days, and possibly a respiratory infection, so we started him on an antibiotic, then he got a top-of-his-head to bottom-of-his-feet rash. AND an ear infection. Now, we just survived the Coxsackie virus, which causes the hand/foot/mouth. Super high fever, trip the ER, three days of crying and not sleeping and meds and stress. Plus, I had to keep him home, so I’ve been out of work since Saturday. And Brendon’s birthday is this weekend, so thankfully he’s feeling so much better, we didn’t have to cancel it.

  3. What a week you have had! Some weeks are like that though and we just have to leave the work alone and put time into getting everyone better. I am glad to hear that you are both feeling better now.

  4. I’m glad you’re doing better! None of your fails were “fails”; sometimes we need to just do what we can do!

  5. So glad that you are feeling better! And that your “fails” have been over the course of the week. Mine has been all in one day! (Of course, I am not saying that I didn’t have many more, because I did! I just didn’t mention them.)

  6. Of course, it all is because I’m not there! Seriously, look how you’ve managed so well without me! 🙂 Really seriously now, I’m so glad you both and KJ are doing better. I’ve been very worried and praying much for you. There wasn’t much else I could do, was there! I love you dearly!

  7. Hmm, what a day for me to stumble upon this Friday Fails!
Yesterday I failed my mid-year review. I have been dealing with a severe amount of personal and job stress and I just blew it. I still have a job, but I have to either pull it together by next Friday, go on medical personal leave, or quit. I definitely feel like a failure right now!

  8. Renters called to tell us they both got laid off so rent would be made in payments( at least they are paying it)nut we had to come up with the whole $1200 to make the mortgage payment on time( failure to plan for such event). Then called next day to tell us there was termites in laundry room $1200( failure to cont inspections trying to save a buck). Had a tooth ache which is unusally as even though I am in my 50s I have never had a bad tooth, nope, not a single filling, root canal or anything. Finally broke down and went to dentist.I had broke a molar into 4 pieces ( failure to quit eating ice)and it didn’t show on the xray because my “gums”was holding it together. Cost for bridge that is going to be needed $1200.(yes really the same amt)( another failure to plan better for flexspedning plan).Spacer to hold teeth in place $200 that ins does not touch since I just don’t have another $1200….went out and crawled in the car to drive home after tooth was pulled and I got all the est of bridge to find my windshield took a hit from a stone and cracked clear across. Thankfully, safelite came to where I was and replaced the windshield for less than $250.( they run 24/7 and are anywhere in 50 states which is why I use them besides being very reasonable).I failed to put back the money for car repairs when my side window got broke out 2 mos ago.
