the power of a planted seed {and i’m not talking about flower seeds!}

Happy Monday!! I hope y’all had a great weekend! Mine was busy as usual, but I did get to spend some quality time in my hammock on Sunday afternoon. It recharges my soul to be out in the quiet of nature. Love it!

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the power of seeds that we each plant every single day.

Little gestures of grace.

A kind word here or there. A gentle rebuke…or a not-so-gentle rebuke. A word of encouragement. An act of kindness – random or not-so-random.

Those kinds of seeds.

We plant seeds everywhere we go with every. single. person that we come in contact with.

Never Underestimate the Power of a Planted Seed

[pinit count=”horizontal”]

As a mother, I plant seeds all the time in my boys minds, hearts and souls. I want them to be the best seeds.

As a friend, I plant seeds in my friends hearts through text, Facebook message, phone call or face-to-face {the old fashioned kind of texting.}

As a daughter, sister and wife, I plant seeds in my parents’ hearts, in my siblings’ hearts and in my husband’s heart.

Seeds of love, truth, kindness, joy, patience, laughter and integrity. These are my goal.

However.

Sometimes I have to plant other seeds. Seeds that are awkward, uncomfortable, challenging and pretty much not-fun.

Seeds of repentance, forgiveness, humility – the hard stuff.

There are seeds that are planted occasionally that are met with great resistance. Those are some of the hardest ones.

Have you ever wanted to SHAKE someone into the reality of seeing things your way? I’m over here raising my hand. Both hands, actually.

You plant the seed and then you mother over it watering it almost to the point of drowning.

Then you weed around until you drive the other person crazy. In reality they are probably really annoyed with you.

I’m here today to tell you that I’ve given over the seed drowning and the excessive weeding {this kind of excludes my kids because I’m responsible for more than just planting seeds in their very young lives}.

I’ve given up that extra work that isn’t my job to do in favor of simply planting seeds.

Every opportunity that I’m given, I share my heart with all these people in my life.

THAT is my calling. THAT is what I know I can do.

I’m no expert and I sometimes pull the grumpy seeds out instead of all the nice ones, but I’m learning and that is what is important.

So, all of this to say, “NEVER underestimate the power of a planted seed.”

I know it’s hard. I know that a lot of time nothing comes from it right away. I know it takes time.

But don’t ever stop planting.

Even when you want to quit.

You just never know when that seed is going to take off and grow into a beautiful plant!

    Very beautifully worded – thanks for the reminder and the challenge to go forth and sow seeds and the importance of doing so!
    Blessings to you,
