Why I Am A Young Living Geek

Happy Wednesday! I hope y’all are having a great week! I *just* finished my bedroom remodel yesterday. I am so excited to show you soon! Squeal!

I’m sharing a bit of my heart today about why I love essential oils so much. Some of you are probably sick of hearing me talk about natural health and all, but it is a part of “my blessed life”, so it will pop up in your inbox every now and then. I have DIY projects and recipes coming up!

Here is my Young Living story…

I grew up in a very naturally minded home. We used herbs and vitamins religiously. We were rarely sick for which I’m so grateful. My husband also was raised naturally minded which has been great. {You can read my thoughts on natural and modern medicine here. They are a beautiful thing together.}

Shortly after I started this blog in 2008, I started hanging out on Twitter. I met other frugal bloggers there. One of which has become one of my dearest friends. Alyssa was a frugal coupon blogger who wasn’t naturally minded at all. We met at a blogging conference and our friendship grew. Some life things happened that made Alyssa begin looking into more natural remedies.  Along that journey, she was introduced to essential oils. I had never used essential oils and I thought it was a little on the hokey side. {You’re thinking the same thing, right?!}

YL Everyday Oils

Alyssa came to visit me right after Cameron was born in 2012. She had her oils and she used them all the time. They smelled good, but I still thought it was a little weird all the things the oils could help. Not to mention my skepticism about network marketing. {Yep, I totally thought it was a scam too. I had been burned by another MLM company previously.} But, Alyssa twisted my arm just enough for me to join Young Living. My oils arrived and sat on my kitchen counter for two weeks, while I wondered,  “What in the WORLD am I supposed to do with these things?”

That Summer, I educated myself through awesome oily Facebook groups, reference materials and online classes. I learned how to use the oils and I read so many incredible stories.

And we used the oils. On a daily basis. For pretty much anything and everything.

Young Living Rocks!{This is Alyssa and me in 2010 and 2014. The difference between these photos is crazy. Young Living has played a big part in our wellness journey! Just look at the sparkle in our eyes now!}

The more I used the oils and I saw them work the more I fell in love with these incredible gifts from God. He made the plants for us!

I accidentally {seriously!} earned a spot in the Hawaii Adventure trip back in February. That trip gave me a whole new perspective and appreciation for this awesome company. I met so many other amazing members with the same heart for sharing the oils.

All my skepticism about essential oils is gone. They work, y’all. I hear the stories every. single. day. Science backs it up.

Young Living also changed my network marketing skepticism. I didn’t sign my life away. I’m not roped into spending an exorbitant amount of money every month to maintain my membership. Young Living’s “why” isn’t about making a buck. It’s about having the absolute best product in the world and helping people maintain their best possible selves.

Two weeks ago I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly to Utah with Alyssa and some of her other leaders {I’m an accidental leader, y’all!}. We visited Young Living corporate headquarters. We saw the warehouse and the in-house lab. We went to the Mona, Utah farm and transplanted lavender and got our fingers in the soil. We had lavender lemonade and lavender ice cream.  We also helped load up the cooker with juniper chips. Man, it smelled AMAZING! I wanted to just take a nap in the juniper. Ha!

Oily Families in Utah - Distillery

This wasn’t just a photo op, we were really participating in the seed to seal process. It was an honor!!

And it is an honor to share my stories and testimonials with my friends and family. Y’all are my friends, so you get to hear them too! 🙂 I am not a salesperson. I’m not interested in being all high-pressure sales-y. That’s not me. Not my style. I sold furniture for three years and even then I wasn’t an “in your face” kind of salesperson. I just want to share our successes. 🙂

I would love to help you get started on your own wellness journey! 🙂

There are step-by-step instructions on the sign up process here.

Feel free to send me an email with any questions you may have!!!

xoxo

  1. I agree with the above commenter about not enjoying sales pitches for YL on a blog. Sorry, as I had enjoyed reading your blog regularly, too. I am a Christian, like you, but will not be following your blog anymore b/c of this type sales pitching. You’re a sweet young woman and I pray all God’s blessings on you and yours in the future……

  2. Thanks for the reply, Myra, and the info on the number of posts in YL. It is interesting to me that in this post you’ve included a way to sign-up, order, and receive a kit for a certain amt of money. That does sound like you’re selling YL which, of course, is your right and the way the YL higher-ups make money (and you make a little bit, too). I respect your right to sell/pitch/rave about YL on your blog but just don’t love having a product touted on one as it makes me feel pressured or responsible for helping you advance in “sharing your successes”. It is YOUR blog, of course. Like I said, may the Lord richly bless you greatly in this endeaver. Truly no hard feelings here. Blessings only…..K. 🙂

    1. Blessings to you too! I’m sorry you feel pressured or responsible for helping me advance. That has never ever been my intention. Just you visiting my site and clicking around helps pay the bills and put food on the table for which I am very thankful. So I’m sorry to hear that you’re no longer going to be visiting.
