How I Use Essential Oils Every Day {Day in the Life of an Oiler Series}

/

Welcome to the beginning of the Day In The Life of an Oiler Blogger Series!  I am SO EXCITED about this series. Y’all know that I love my essential oils, but many of you have asked exactly how I use the oils on a daily basis.

It can be a little overwhelming starting out using essential oils, so to simplify I thought it would be fun to pack a week full of “oily” information and inspiration! You will get the perspective from 20 different bloggers who use Young Living essential oils! This is going to be fun, y’all! 🙂 Everyone’s links are at the end of this post. I will be updating the list all week!

How I Use Essential Oils Every Day {Day in the Life of an Oiler Series}

Here is my “A Day in the Life of an Oiler”, but may I add one caveat? These times are approximate, yo! I’m a routine-er….not a schedule-er. 🙂

7:00 A.M. – I wake up, roll over and read my devotionals before my feet hit the floor.

Morning Oily Routine – I sit up in bed and put a drop of Frankincense on my crown for grounding and balancing, Valor on my wrists for emotional support, Joy on my heart for a natural pick-me-up, Thieves on my feet for immune boosting, EndoFlex on my thyroid for endocrine support and Purification on my throat {we were fighting the sickies and I was determined not to get sick!}.

I walk to the kitchen where I make my Lemon water and put on my favorite lip gloss. Then I check and respond to emails and Facebook messages. I check our private Facebook group for essential oil users to make sure everyone’s questions are being answered.

8:00 – Boys are awake. We snuggle and I oil them up for the day. Peace & Calming goes on Ridley’s big toes, Breathe Again roll-on  under Cameron’s toes (he was a little sniffly) and Thieves on both their feet. Easy peasy. Done.

8:15 –  I make the boys toast from homemade bread and I cut up oranges and cheese slices to go along with it. Yum! I eat my usual – a boiled egg and half piece of toast. 🙂

8:45 – Boys are done eating, so we all take our supplements and we get dressed and ready for the day. I take a swig of NingXia Red and I give the boys each a sip. YUM!

9:00 – Before sitting down to do our daily Bible time and pre-school time, I get Peace & Calming going in the diffuser. LOVE that stuff!

9:30 – The boys have play time. I do laundry, dishes and neaten up. I putter around doing different things. A mother’s job is never done. 😉

10:30 – Snack and reading time. The boys eat Annie’s Bunnies or gluten free Animal Crackers and I have a Honeycrisp apple. Cameron needs a diaper change. He is a teeny bit red, so I put on a dab of coconut oil with a drop of Lavender essential oil. We read books together. Cameron usually gets off the sofa and plays most of the time.

12:00 PM – Before I know it, it’s lunch time. Typical lunches include sandwiches, chips and hummus, apple slices etc. My favorite lunch is a cucumber, tomato and onion salad with some kind of protein.

12:45 – Cameron goes down for nap time. Because he has the sniffles, I put Thieves essential oil in the H2EO diffuser in the boys’ bedroom.

1:00 – Ridley and I read a chapter book together. Right now we are reading Farmer Boy. 🙂 It is so fun because I have such fond memories of my mom reading to my siblings and me.

1:30 – I have an essential oils class tonight, so I spend time prepping Thieves Household cleaner for door prizes and going over my notes. Ridley gets to watch 2 Leapfrog educational shows on Netflix and then he plays with Legos.

2:30 – I start to get that afternoon blah feeling, so I open a tube of my favorite energy boost – NingXia Nitro. Boom! I switch out the laundry and put some dishes away. More momma puttering…

3:00 –  I put Christmas Spirit in the diffuser. I know it’s not Christmas any more, but I love the Christmas Spirit blend. Ah! Then I spend time getting ready for my class.

3:30 – Cameron wakes up and I get supper going. I play with Cameron in the den while Ridley goes to the barn with his PaPaw. His favorite thing is gathering the eggs. 🙂

5:30 – I leave for my essential oils class. I rubbed Valor over my heart to calm any nervous butterflies. I know it sounds silly, but I’m not kidding, the stuff works.

7:30 – While I’m gone, my husband does bedtime with the boys. I left their pajamas on the bed with Thieves to put on their feet and their diffuser was ready to just turn on. I put RC in the H2EO diffuser. My husband  slipped out to his basketball game and my Dad sat here until I got home. It’s SO nice to live right next door to my parents.

10:30 – Finally bedtime! Ahhh! My nightly routine consists of Joy over my heart, Peace & Calming on my shoulders {because I hold stress there!} for relaxation, EndoFlex over my thyroid and Thieves on my feet. Hubby puts Thieves on his feet too.

That’s how a typical day goes around here. I don’t teach essential oils classes very often, so this is a general look at how our days go. When I’m not prepping for a class, I play with my boys, work, blog, DIY or decorate. 🙂

There are a few What If…situations that I want to also mention…

  1. Myra, I LOVED this post! I am doing a party this week and I love your idea of doing the cleaner! Do you also add the water for them? Or do you allow them to add their own water when they get home? I know it is a silly question, but I figured I would ask 🙂 Thanks!

  2. Any suggestions for oils to use for reflux/colic? it’s not bad… just uncomfortable for her.

  3. I popped on over here from Amy’s Finer Things. Thanks so much for doing this series! I recently started using YLEO’s and have been wondering how to incorporate them more into everyday life!

  4. Myra,
    I love that you’ve pulled so many bloggers together to share their different uses of oils. I’ve been reading about them on your blog and the Pennington Point for a while and have wanted to get started – these glimpses into someone’s everyday really makes it seem manageable. Thank you!

    1. Hi Nichole! Yay! It can be overwhelming at first, but once you get in a routine, it’s like second nature. 🙂

  5. Love this! Thanx! I have a couple of random questions. 1. Where did u get your EO carry case? 2. Where did u get the labels for the top of the bottles?!

  6. I have that diffuser too and use it often but it just stopped diffusing recently. No steam coming up just bubbles. I’ve cleaned it as suggested and YL has yet to get back to me. It’s only a year old. Any ideas?

  7. Hey there have been using oils for a few months now, and I have had success other than I can not find the right combo for my headaches, peppermint and panway dont work for me, any other suggestions?~Brandi
