  1. I’ve been making these for, oh, at least 40 years. They’re always a hit! Everybody from the kids to the seniors loves them. Great job reviving a classic! One hint from experience – if you have a stand mixer it’s great for mixing this recipe. Use the paddle on slow speed. So much easier than doing it by hand.

    1. Lana,
Thanks for your tip about the stand mixer. It made mixing so much easier and it was mixed throughly in no time.

  2. We love spinach and artichoke dip as well as 5-layer taco dip. We serve with tortilla chips and fresh veggies.

Thanks for the recipe. I am going to try these with gluten-free products.

    Have a beautiful day!

  3. Thanks for sharing that easy recipe, Myra! My eyes glaze over after about 5 ingredients in a recipe these days and I move on. I love these when I have had them in the past…I need to take the advice you left on the end of your post “try not to eat them all yourself”.

  4. My mother-in-law makes these with turkey sausage & extra cheddar. I crave these with each pregnancy so all three of my kids adore them & I bet our 4th will also.

  5. I made these last night and they are soooo good! I made the recipe using Bob’s Red Mill gluten-free biscuit/baking mix and they were perfect. I actually liked it better than the bisquick recipe.

  6. This is a classic in our family. We were on vacation and couldn’t remember how many cups of Bisquick. We thankfully stumbled on your blog. Thanks for sharing!

  7. I made this recipe and followed instructions completely. Fail! There should be 2 cups of shredded cheese instead of just one otherwise you get a powdery crumbled mass that falls apart. Very disappointed.

  8. These sound so good. Going to try them, this afternoon and take them with us, for the week-end. Hope it’s ok to eat them at room temp.

  9. Liquid?? Must follow bisquick directions for adding liquid. Husband had all his ingredients in the bowl but they just would not form a ball at all, lol. ( you have to make sure they know how much liquid) We drain the grease of the sausage as well. After adding 1/2 cup water to the mix they turned out perfect. Been making these for 30 some odd years and everyone loves them.

    Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  10. I love these and have been looking everywhere for the three ingredient recipe that I remember being so easy and so tasty. Thank you so much for posting this!!

  11. I know this recipe was posted years ago, but I just wanted thank you for this is easy and delicious meal. I’ve made it a few times now and my whole family has loved it. This past time, I decided to try something that you may want to add to the recipe. After it cooked all day according to your recipe, I removed all the chicken and put it on a plate. At the time we were making rice to go with it. I was about to dump the leftover juice which was very hot, when I suddenly thought “gravy!” I took around 1/4 cup of flour and just dumped it right in the juice and started stirring. Within a minute I had a thick gravy that I added salt too until it was perfect. The chicken, dipped in the gravy, was amazing, and it was so easy. Anyway, thanks again for the wonderful recipe!rluy

  12. My family simply loves this conserve!!! This may sound odd, but it is wonderful on top of fresh homemade yogurt!rluy

  18. Yep that is it exactly! This is the variation my kids came up with. It makes the oats a little more subdued, less crunchy and not the main attraction on the cookie. If you like the crunchier texture just add the oats and melt the chocolate chips and voila!Vodka

  20. Spinach and bacon are not the things that I would really think of combining. The taste that both bacon and spinach is really different from one another. To tell you the truth, I am not really a fan of vegetables, more so of spinach. However, I do love eating bacon and I am not really closed to new things. I think that I would probably try this original spinach and bacon recipe of yours, I hope that I made the right choice doing it.Oreo Mcflurry recipe

  21. Hi, This looks wonderful – and green and bright, perfect for midwinter. Roasted cauliflower is so tasty, it probably was even better than with the steamed version. And I love cauloflower with pasta. I’m going to have to try this one! Thanks!Lazy keto meal

  25. Put your mix in the fridge for about 30 min before forming balls – fats from sausage and cheese will harden, making the shape easier to keep. Work fast and with a melon baller (or some such kitchen tool, place on cookie tray that has been lined with parchment paper – get it in the pre-heated oven quick. The outside will cook quickly and hold the shape. For more visit Persian Food

  27. LOVE the recipe…will try tonight. Sad part is, the part of the body containg the poo sac is the most flavorful! We ust the neck and tough parts for chowder….the whits “soft” part is for other dishes (like pasta). Next time you come to the coast to clam…take that bit of extra ytme to carefully disect the colored material from the soft body. Great recipe though.homemade pizza dough

  28. Ooooh! Julia Turshens original turkey meatballs are a family fave around here – can’t wait to try this version! Also, NEED to get my hands on her new cookbook.
