How To Make Your House Smell Amazing

/

I LOVE making my house smell good. It’s a perk of cooking and baking that I savor.*wink* I used to be a candle lover {and plug-in lover} until I read about the icky chemically-laden stuff that is in them. Boo! Why is it that almost everything that smells good and tastes good is bad for you? Ha!

Several months ago, I got a Home Diffuser to diffuse essential oils into the air. Oh my, y’all. I love diffusing essential oils!

The cold-air diffuser I use breaks the oils up into a micro-fine mist that is diffused into the air. The oils remain suspended in the air {because they are oxygenated} to freshen and improve air quality. So diffusing oils not only makes my house smell fabulous, but it purifies the air too! Yes!

I use between 5-8 drops of oil in my diffuser. It just depends on what I’m using it for.

My favorite oils to diffuse are…

Oils To Diffuse

  • Thieves

Thieves essential oil is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils for an aromatic blend that fills any space with a rich, spicy aroma. I use this oil a lot. I diffuse it every night in our bedrooms as well as during the day. It smells amazing!

  • Citrus Fresh

This oil blend makes my house smell like I’ve been cleaning like a crazy woman. It’s perfect for when someone comes over at the last minute. Citrus Fresh is a blend of Orange, Tangerine, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin, and Spearmint essential oils.

  • Peace & Calming

I seriously love this blend. I’ve been diffusing it in my boys’ room at night to create a relaxing environment. It has such a comforting aroma. I really love deep breathing when I have this oil going in the diffuser. Peace & Calming is a blend of Ylang Ylang, Orange, Tangerine, Patchouli, and Blue Tansy essential oils.

Speaking of diffusers, did you know that Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit includes a diffuser {plus oils and other goodies}? This is such an incredible thing that I just have to share. If you’ve pondered dipping your toes into essential oils…figuratively, of course, the Premium Starter Kit is a great way to do so! Below is a graphic that explains all the fabulous items that come in the Premium Starter Kit.

  1. Myra-
I’ve been waiting for this article. We moved to the Allergy Capital of the United States recently so I’ve been seeking a way to make the home smell good without disturbing the sensitive noses in my home. I’ve even cooked fresh apples and cinnamon in a slow cooker. My best idea for aroma…my worst idea for clean-up!!
    Thanks!!

  2. I’m not sure why trying to be healthy & avoiding chemicals is considered overboard! Is there such a thing as a healthy balance of toxic chemicals? 🙂 Thank you Myra for helping to keep your readers healthy. And by all means, throw that Maybelline out!

    1. Thanks Sarah for your support!! 🙂 What kind of makeup do you use? I’m looking for a chem-free alternative!

      1. I use larenim (mineral backwards) and am very happy with it. I was a liquid girl before and this is powder, so it took some getting used to, but it’s worth it to know I’m not soaking up all of those yucky chemicals, or rubbing them on my babies’ faces every time I snuggle them!

  3. Just ordered my premium kit! I had a question about diffusers. Do you have to have one in each room? I know zulilly had some a while back. I should have snagged a few extra from there!

  4. A really good natural makeup that I like a lot is “Gabriel”. I love their compact foundation/powder and eyeshadows. I don’t wear lipstick, but many women have told me they love the way it stays on!
