Saying “See You Later” To Memaw Today

/

Hi dear friends and readers. My beautiful Memaw passed from this world into heaven on Saturday just after 6 p.m. We were with her and held her hands as she slipped away. It was a quiet, sacred, beautiful thing.

Today we are celebrating her life.

This is so, SO hard. I fell apart driving up the driveway on Sunday night and her house was completely dark. That lamplight that I’ve seen shine for the last 30 years was missing and it made me realize just how big the hole is in my heart.

Two days before she left us. Her hairdresser came to the house and fixed her hair.

Please pray for us.

I will be back here as soon as I can.

xoxo

Myra

  8. I was so sad for you when I read your post this morning. Your grama will hold such a special place in your heart forever. There is no filling that void, the ‘missing you’ part, forever. In a family so close you will speak of this special person in your life, all your life, sharing the stories of love, friendship, caring, and doing, as your grama did for so many. Stay close in the days ahead and we will welcome you back with open arms when you are ready to return.

  18. Dear Myra, Many of your friends and readers have left beautiful, comforting messages for you and I would echo all of them. There is something especially hard about losing that last grandparent….It’s as if a door closes on a generation and we move a step farther from our own childhood. I was nearly 50 years old when my last grandparent passed away and found it to be a deeply wrenching experience. I’ve been praying for you and will continue to do so. Fondly, Suzanne

  19. You and your family will be in my prayers. I just lost my grandmother this year as well, and I know it is so difficult. We can be comforted to know that they are no longer in pain and are with the Lord. I still miss her every day, as I know you will as well, but I rejoice to think of what they are experiencing now!
