Best Bruise Remedy {Dr. Mom Series}

/

Good morning, dear friends! I hope you have had a great week! I’m back today with the first official installment of my Dr. Mom series. Today, we’re talking about the best bruise remedy that I know of.

As I’m sure you know, kids are quite accident prone. As soon as Ridley became mobile four years ago, he would bump his head into different things. Then when he was a toddler, he would trip and fall. Boys are rough and tumble creatures! I love my boys and their boy-ish-ness, but I don’t want them to look like they lost a fight all the time. Haha!

I’ve been using Arnica Gel for bumps and bruises for a long time. My mom actually used it on my siblings and me when we were little. It works beautifully and a little dab will do ya.

Arnica Montana is an herb that has been used for a very long time to treat muscle injuries, bruises, trauma etc. Besides Arnica Gel, this herb is also available in a homeopathic {very, very diluted} tablet form. Some of you might remember that I used Arnica tablets for relieving my afterpains from Cameron’s birth in place of over-the-counter pain relief. I have also used it to relieve stiffness after working out.

Whenever we are out and about, I make sure that I have some form of Arnica with us, so I can help soothe boo-boos when they occur. Because I know they will. 😉

Do you have a natural bruise or muscle strain remedy to share? I would love to hear! 🙂

xoxo

  1. We LOVE Traumeel at our house. We have used the Arnicare a coupel of times, but end up switching back to Traumeel. It comes in a cream, a pellet and an injectable form. This was a life saver after I had a bad ankle strain that wouldn’t heal (over a year). My Dr. injected my ankle, on two separte occasions (4 weeks apart) and no troubles with it for the past 4 years.

    1. I’ll second, third, and fourth the Traumeel! I used arnica for years too, but switched to the Traumeel cream b/c it has homeopathic arnica as well as lots of other inflammation and pain fighters.
      Another great use for mommas: fighting off mastitis. Any time I get a plugged milk duct/swollen area, I put Traumeel on it every few hours and have successfully fought off mastitis several times.
      And I used it on my stitches after surgery. Hugely helps the pain and healing was so much faster than expected. The tablets are great as well!

  2. Does this work for old bruises, or do you have to use it right away? My poor Susannah somehow manages to always have her shins covered with bruises (and I don’t know how, just when I bathe her I notice them). If this works after the bruise appears, I’d love to get some.

  3. I have never heard of this! I will have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing. We always use Vaseline on a fresh bump. No bruise develops. It doesn’t work well on old bruises or pain relief though.

  4. We have used arnica gel for years. We recently vistited a new pediatrician and she recommended it too!
