DIY Book Page Canvas

/ /

Happy Monday! I hope y’all are having a great Labor Day weekend! Today, I’m sharing a project that I first posted two years ago. It’s kinda been lost in the shuffle, so I decided to bring it back out in the limelight.

DIY Book Page Canvas

Supplies Needed:

  • An Old Book – a thrift store or yard sale book works great!
  • A Canvas
  • ModPodge
  • Foam brush
  • Scraps of scrapbook paper
  • Scissors
  • Letter Stencil or Silhouette Machine

Tear out book pages. {As a book lover this makes me cringe too, so use a crummy book!} 🙂 Arrange pages and scrapbook paper accents to achieve the look you want.  Then use ModPodge to glue down everything in place.

Allow the glue to completely dry before applying a top coat of ModPodge over the book pages.

Note: You can arrange some of the book pages horizontally.  I placed mine going vertically, but when I do a project like this again, I will mix it up. 🙂

1. The book pages will be uneven at the edge of the canvas.

2. Use scissors to straighten the uneven edges and leave enough to turn under to the back of the canvas.

3. Fold the corners and use ModPodge to secure.

Brush ModPodge thoroughly over the edges and corners.

The ModPodged canvas may look a bit wrinkled, but don’t worry. When the pages dry completely, it will be a-okay.

I cut out the letters f-a-l-l. from scrapbook paper and ModPodged them to the canvas. The possibilities are endless for creating a plain book canvas or many other seasonal canvases.

With all the pieces of craft supplies that I had on hand, I was able to create this seasonal project for less than $5! Besides using the canvas as wall art in the Fall, I have also used it as a background for my delicious Date & Cranberry Nut Bars as well as decor on my Vintage Fall Mantel last year. It’s so versatile!

Have you ever crafted with old book pages before?
