Cottage Chic Summer Mantel

/ /

Happy Monday! This is an exciting week! I’m headed to the Haven conference in Atlanta in a few days which is going to be so fun! In the meantime, I’m thrilled to show you my Summer mantel today. It has a cottage chic vibe with a touch of beach glamour. We’re not beach dwellers, but I like to dream about the sea sometimes.

LOVE it!

I used two printer drawers and a shutter for the background. I love how they work together even though they are different. Maybe quirky is a good word to describe them.

I added a mercury glass candlestick on each side to give a bit of symmetry. But I still kept things interesting with varied candle heights. Did you notice?

I recently found a huge bag of white and brown balls at TJMaxx. They looked Summery, so I picked them up. The added texture and dimension that they add is just fabulous!

Back before Valentine’s Day, I got a set of three little white vases from Target’s dollar spot. I just turned them around so you can’t see the I-heart-U. 🙂 The woven flower is from our honeymoon stop in Charleston, South Carolina.

I love my “Promise” Willow Tree figure. It just makes me super happy…especially since my sweet husband gave it to me a few years ago. I used three Privet House salad plates to add some extra color and punch.  Plates are such a fun, versatile accessory!

The Life is Good sign is another Target dollar spot find. Isn’t it so cute?!  As I began to put the finishing touches on the mantel, I decided that the printer drawers needed something in them. I called my Mom who used to have a basket of sea shells in one of her bathrooms. Sure enough she still had them and I love, love, love how they look in the drawers.

Pretty!

Just a couple more beauty shots for y’all! 🙂

Have you done any Summer decorating? I know a lot of people don’t decorate seasonally and that’s a-okay! I need a change every few months, so this works for me! 🙂

I’m linking up to Today’s Creative Blog, Women Living Well, Tip Me Tuesday, I’m Lovin’ It, Weekend Wrap Up Party and The Lettered Cottage and Beth’s Mantel Party!

    1. Thanks, Maya! 🙂 I’ve found mine at yard sales. Most people don’t really understand their potential!

  1. Such a pretty arrangement … I think the addition of the shells in the printer cabinets is the perfect finishing touch. And, I love that you just turned those cute little vases around, great re-use!! I’m thrilled to be featured with you at Layla’s and am so looking forward to Haven I can hardly stand it. 🙂

  2. That was really impressive and pretty as well. You got a good taste when it comes in house decorating and you did it very well. I am most impress when I saw the shells arranged very well and it looks amazing. Love it!

  3. Eeally fun! I love decorating with eclectic and seasonal pieces, but haven’t done much since becoming a mother of three (FOUR YEARS AGO!) This was just the post to get me excited about jumping back into the DIY fun!

  4. Oh, I just love your mantels!! I have been pinning them since the holidays when I saw your mantel featured on Home Stories A to Z. I adore the printer drawers — I was just gifted one so I’m hoping to use it creatively soon. Meanwhile, I love your summer mantel, yet another lovely one! You totally inspire me, thank you for being you! 🙂

  5. I love the idea of putting paper or fabric in an old window frame. I have an old window in the garage that I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with. I might have to try this!
