Gender Reveal Party – It’s A…

/

Hey, hey! I hope y’all had a great weekend! It feels like ours was a whirlwind of things to do and attend. I’ve been on pins and needles to share this post with you because we found out on Thursday night what the gender of our little munchkin is! My sister had a gender reveal party with her second pregnancy and it was so fun, so we decided to do it too.

We gathered family and friends at our church kitchen and everyone had to choose whether they thought this baby is a boy or a girl. I found the little cupcake toppers at Hobby Lobby. They were perfect!

We couldn’t have a party without food, so I found these adorable plates at Hobby Lobby. So cute!

My sister made chocolate no-bake cookies and we had fruit, veggies and two different homemade pizzas. Yum!

And then there was the cake. A friend made the cake and only she and the ultra-sound tech knew the gender of our baby. Yes, I had to use incredible self-control to not open the envelope to find out the “secret.”

I picked up two dozen roses at Kroger that were on clearance and used my Ballard Designs Knock-off Silhouette vase since we were celebrating a little person.

Here we go…cutting into the cake.

We were so surprised, happy and excited!

Ridley, on the other hand, wasn’t impressed at all. Ha!

I’m thinking…”This is so very cool, but what in the world have I gotten myself into?”

Because I’m the momma of a three year old little man and another baby boy on the way!! Yay!!!!!

I just have to brag for a minute. This is my sister at 40 weeks and me at 20 weeks.  I’m seriously so proud of my sister. This is her third baby in 2 years and 2 months {no twins!}. She is a natural birthing rockstar and a fabulous momma. Doctors told her she would never have children, so I guess God showed them up! We’ll be welcoming her new little one any day now!

By this summer, my parents will have gone from no grandchildren to five in 3 1/2 years {four boys and one girl}. Let’s just say that visiting mom and dad with all the kiddos is l.o.u.d. Ha!

So, that’s how we celebrated finding out if we’re having a boy or a girl. It was incredible to celebrate this moment surrounded by people we love.

Have you ever been to a gender reveal party? Did you find out or wait for a surprise on the birth day?

I’m linking up to the Weekend Wrap Up Party!

XO

  1. congrats! So exciting! We have two boys (3 years and 11 months) it’s a handful, but so much fun! I love having a house full of boys right now!

  2. Oh CONGRATS!!!! What a fun idea for a party! I invited everyone to the baby shower with my second (we didn’t find out until birth with Little Man) and they knew we knew what we were having but we told them they wouldn’t find out until the birth…..but then I decorated the party in two themes. Yellow and Green in the entry/front of the party & they rounded the corner into the dining room and saw all PINK 🙂 It was so fun to see them figure it out 🙂
Congrats again girl! Little Boys are just so special! And WOW your sister looks amazing for 3 kids and FULL term! (You look amazing for being 20 weeks too-tiny little baby bump!-I felt so huge by that time!)

  3. Congratulations!! You are absolutley adorablewith your little prego belly, and this little boy will be super blessed to be joining your family! So happy for you 🙂

  4. Congrats on another sweet boy! My sister in law threw gender parties for all her local daughter and daughter in laws. They live in Memphis so we were not able to attend but saw the pictures. They did the same thing you did but they brought boy or girl gifts…which is fine but kind of a waste if you picked the wrong gender!:) My SIL found some cute little pink and blue bows attached to elastic and everyone had to put on a Bow Tie when they arrived, choosing pink if they thought the baby was a girl and blue if it was a boy. Lots of fun but takes incredible self control not to find out at the ultrasound!!

  5. Congratulations!!! Riley will love having a brother! I have two little guys too and Thursday night we found out that we’ll be welcoming another little boy too!! 🙂 I can only imagine how crazy my house will be in a few years!!! LOL! 🙂

  6. I’m a blog stalker but don’t comment much. I just wanted to say, you look so beautiful and happy in the pictures above, they made me smile. Congrats on another boy, how exciting! Love the party idea, if I wasn’t done having chldren (4 is enough for me) then I would so totally be all over this idea. God is great, love that your sister and you are pregnant together and she is so blessed with babies! Happy Pregnancy to you both!

  7. YAY!!!! We will both have a three year old boy and a newborn boy this summer! 🙂 I am so excited too, but I have often thought “What have I gotten myself into to?!” Love it!!

  8. This is so much fun! I love how even the blogpost had some suspense building up… I enjoyed it and didn’t peak ahead! Congratulations on two sons – what a blessing. What a very fun idea this whole party was and a way to make the moment even more exciting. I’m not sure if we’ll be having any more kids, but if we do I’m tempted to do this myself! (in fact, I kind of want one more, JUST so I can do this! haha)

  9. How Fun! What a good idea! My reveal was always over the phone because I was way too impatient! This is so sweet. Congrats on another little boy! I’m sure Ridley is going to love it! 🙂
    Blessings!!

  10. Congrats on the big news!! It’s such a wonderful blessing to be able to carry a child within our wombs. May God protect and keep you and your baby safe during your pregnancy, labor and delivery! (Your sister and baby too!)

I didn’t choose to find out the sex of our baby when I was pregnant. I always wanted to have the big “It’s a girl!/It’s a boy!” movie type of moment. It just seemed so much more fun that way… If I’m blessed enough to have another child, I plan on doing the same for that little munchkin. Though, I have to say, a reveal party looks/sounds like lots of fun! 🙂

  11. When Kelly did a gender party for Levi did she already know she was having a boy? I can’t remember.

Anyway…congratulations on another boy Myra. God had him all planned for your wonderful family! I am so happy for you.

Both you and Kelly are such sweet sisters, and such beautiful Christian wives, and mommies!

  12. I’m so happy for you. I love your “reveal party” and have passed on the idea to friends. I would love to throw one of these partys for someone.

  13. That is super fun!!! Both you and your sis look fabulous!!!
We did not find out the sex with our first (boy) and it certainly added an air of excitement to the entire pregnancy.

Our family is sort of similar in the explosion of Grandchildren. For years, there were no young’ens, then all of the sudden 8 grandchildren in the span of 1.5 years! (Naturally concieved quads certainly upped the total!) Family gatherings are certainly more children friendly than they used to be!

    Have a great pregnacy!

  14. What a fun idea!! My boys are about the spacing that yours will be and are now almost 13 and 10. Some of the best advice that I ever received was to pray for them to be the best of friends. So, I prayed for their relationship and they were just the best little playmates! They continue to be close and I continue to pray! 🙂 Congratulations!

  15. What a great idea for a party!!! I found out the gender with all three of my kids. First time, it was ONLY me that knew. The rest of the times, my DH and I both knew but told no one else. You and your sister look so beautiful. She’s 40 weeks!!!! That was me at 4 months!!

  16. Aww, that’s so sweet! I only “know you” from you blog but I felt so excited to find out as I looked at picture after picture. Congratulations! I always think mommies of boys have such a special relationship…boys love their mamas! Congratulations again and wishing you and your sister all the best during the rest of your pregnancies 🙂

  17. Congratulations, to both you and your Sister..How very Blessed you both are indeed!!! Loved reading this post! Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration with us..~ Theresa.

  18. Congratulations and Myra you look absolutely awesome. I love the idea of a gender reveal party. Yay for boys

  19. Congrats on another boy!!! I have never been/seen a gender reveal party, but what a great idea!! I absolutely LOVE the pic of you and your hubby cutting into the cake! You can see the excitement of finding out in both your faces!! Special (and priceless!) memories! God bless y’all!

  20. Back in my day – ultrasounds did not exist, so we were surprised both times when I delivered 2 AWESOME GIRLS. Both my daughters wanted to be surprised with the first baby, but wanted to know about subsequent children. Now we have 5 Grandchildren – 2 Girls & 3 Boys, all of them as Awesome as my Girls.

  21. Friends of ours didn’t find out until their baby shower. We got to be part of the surprise by holding blue signs and shouting “It’s a boy!” when they arrived. I’ve kind of had my heart set on something similar. Showing this post to hubby to try to get him on board. 🙂

  22. Congratulations!
May I ask you why you prefer to open your Christmas presents before Christmas Day? ;-P

  26. How fun! I’m 32 weeks with baby #2 and we are waiting until the birth day to find out if Isabel will have a little sister or brother to share her toys with. It was so incredible to have the Dr. announce, it’s a girl when she was born that I am beyond excited for that moment again.
Your face cutting into that cake makes me even more excited to find out 🙂

  27. What an amazing and adorable way to announce the gender of your new bundle of joy. Congratulations and God bless all of you.

  28. Myra, I enjoy following your blog and linked up to yours for your gender reveal party. I’m officially too lazy to do a real gender reveal party, so today is my online gender reveal. I think we may be due around the same time–I’m due early August! 🙂

  29. I am so excited for you and your sister! The party looks like it was a blast, and the cake looked delicious–although I am sure the photo didn’t do it justice. You definitely know how to throw a baby shower! Perhaps I’ll ask you for some advice when a little me is on the way.

    Thanks again!

  30. I love it! It’s so cute! We found out with our first but decided that we wouldn’t with this one (I’m 21 weeks currently) but if we have a third and decide to find out, I’m totally going to do this! Such a cute idea.
    Congrats!!!

  31. That same story is heard over and over again. Ordinary blokes that evyrebody knows DO premeditate making women helpless so that they can have sex that the woman would not consent to if fully capacitated. And that’s pretty much my story too. Except I’d just had a bad breakup and this guy was my friend. Well, apparently. I’m extra-extremely lucky that it only took a few weeks for me to articulate the r-word. And I’m relatively unaffected, though I can’t go out drinking any more. That’s annoying. Big hugs everyone! It would be nice if there was a site where women could post their experiences anonymously, without comments, though I’m not sure what it would achieve. Would be nice, though, to have it out there.
