Yard Sale Home Decor

Y’all know that I love hitting yard sales each weekend to find special treasures to decorate my home. It is a hobby and something that I budget for each month. 🙂  One thing that I’ve learned is to be more selective about what I buy. A person can only have so many hurricane vases, candle holders, picture frames etc. You get the jist, right?

Since downsizing to a smaller home, I’ve learned a lot about my yard sale and thrifting habits. Ahem.  Let’s just say that my habits have changed and matured over time.   I’m about to go bonkers with all the “cool stuff” that is overpopulating my home, my closets and drawers.  So, I’m going to channel my inner Nester, edit my home until it’s within an inch of sparseness and then have a massive yard sale.

Umkay, with that outta the way, I’m going to show you a few of my favorite yard sale treasures that I’ve used to decorate my home! Fun, right?

I spotted this ancient laminate nightstand at a yard sale for $7.  I fell in love with the shape of the nightstand. After I painted it, stenciled the top and replaced the drawer pulls, this nightstand has a new life in our newly remodeled hall bathroom!

I love my black fork and spoon.  I found them at a massive yard sale for $2.50. They were a 70s rust color, but some black spray paint did the trick and fixed them right up!

I found the stool under my apple green desk for $3 at a yard sale in the boondocks.  I cleaned it up and recovered the seat with a fabric scrap that I had on hand. 🙂 Love it!

The grapevine wreath that I used in my summer wreath was 0.50 at a yard sale. After some spray paint {apparently I spray paint everything, ahem} and fabric flowers, the wreath was updated and ready for summer.

This lamp {the base} was a yard sale find for $2.00 that looks nothing like it used too. I’m going to share the tutorial with you soon! Can’t wait! 🙂

Other things that I look for and notice at yard sales are architectural elements like old windows and doors. Decorating with meaningful pieces that cost next to nothing from yard sales is incredibly fulfilling to me. I love decorating my home with beautiful things, but I don’t want to pay a fortune for them.

Do you yard sale to decorate your home?

    1. Thanks for your comment Ches! Actually, yard sales around here are very spread out and hit and miss. I think it’s just being in the right place at the right time. The hunt is a thrill, so when I find something it’s extra exciting. 🙂

    1. You know, I haven’t ever bought anything off Craigslist. I’m always afraid I might run into a creeper. Maybe I’m a fraidy cat. LOL! I truly do need to check it out soon!

  3. Love this post, but then I love everything you post! Please do write about your lamp shade re-do SOON. I need some lamp inspiration for my bedroom & living room (soon to be) re-do’s. Can’t wait!
