Please Pray For Ridley

Tomorrow morning, my sweet Ridley is scheduled for minor surgery to clip and suture his {very minor} tongue tie.  He will be put to sleep which makes my momma heart sad and glad.  Sad because I’m a worrier and glad because he won’t remember the surgery.

I’m so thankful for Ridley.

He is a precious God-gift to us.

He has healed my shattered momma heart from miscarriage.

He fills our home with laughs, screams and so much fun.

Look at that mischievous face.

Love him!

So, will y’all please pray that the surgery goes well?

And that this momma doesn’t freak out too much?

We have to be at the hospital at 6 AM and surgery is scheduled for 8 AM. And yes, I just got a major lump in my throat while typing that. Sigh.

I will keep Facebook and Twitter updated tomorrow.

Have any of your children had surgery before, major or minor?

  1. Surgery for little ones is always so nerve wracking! I remember when our daughter had tubes in, I was a teary mess, still crying when the surgeon came out and said he was done!

Praying for a speedy recovery for that sweet boy!

  2. Praying, dear Myra, for Ridley and all of your sweet family. We have been through many, many surgeries with our middle child (my 24-weeker). It’s scary every time for me and you always wish you could do it for them. Ridley (and you!) will do great and I know it will be a relief to have this behind you. I’ll be praying and following along tomorrow. Hugs.

  3. my dear baby girl developed an abcess on a lymph node at 6 months… was rushed by ambulance to children’s over an hour away – then was told she would need emergency surgery to drain it. This ’emergency’ surgery had us waiting for almost 8 hours for an opening so they could do the surgery. The absolute hardest part was after she got the loopy drugs and they took her off of us…. she wanted to cry so bad but wasn’t able because of the drugs…. that was by far the hardest thing I ever had to do…watch her be taken away so scared. We spent 4 days/nights in childrens and it is something I never want to go through again.

  4. I will be praying for you, your family, and little Ridley. May God’s peace be with you during that difficult time and may He help him recover swiftly. My little nephew had to had surgery when he was just a month old…like you said thank goodness they’ll never we remember but we always will.

  5. He’s adorable! I know what it’s like to go through that though. My daughter who is now 17 had to have a mole removed when she was 4 years old. I was a nervous wreck too, and it’s normal to be scared, but everything will be fine. My daughter’s surgery was 13 years ago and things are even technologically better now so please try not to worry so much and know that his life will be made better by the caring medical team that is looking out for him. He is also lucky to have such a sweet caring mommy…best of luck 🙂

  6. What a handsome guy! I am so sorry he has to have surgery. My son at age 3 has surgery in both eyes for strabismus (wandering eyes). That was a hard day. You both will be in my prayers. God will protect him.

  7. Oh, I will be praying for you. My son has had surgery but I can only imagine that it was easier then what you will go thru b/c he was only 7 months so he did not know what was going one. Two tips. Obviously keep a brave this is normal to be at a hospital and everything is going to be okay face on. Second, bring his lovey. I remember the process of checking in and waiting and we hung out in a room for what seemed like an hour. We had one of those car seat hanging toys that my son loved. It was a dog that barked and we barked that dog for a straight hour. It gave him comfort in a place that was not. Now this is also a preference but don’t sit and wait. They will take your phone number and tell you how long the surgery will last. So go walk the gift shop, go get a soda, bring a magazine. It is in Gods hands and you sitting in a room so stressed out is not going to help. Okay. Hope some of this might help! Praying!

  8. Praying and sending quick healing wishes!!

When my youngest had her tonsil out and they finally wheeled her back to her room I leaned over the bed to kiss her and almost passed out….my hubby had take me and sit me down and put my head between my knees…….I had no idea I was THAT stressed over her going into surgery.

{{{HUGS}}} for both of you Myra

  9. It will go so fast, you’ll barely have time to worry. My Abigail had to have general anesthetic for surgery on her ear two years ago, for a weird fungal infection from swimming in lake water. Everything moved so quickly, there was no time to sit and fret, it was all about keeping her comfortable and happy. And she was so funny when they gave her the “silly juice” that helped relax her before surgery. During the actual surgery, I was only away from her for about 10 or 15 minutes, tops. Sounds like the tongue tie surgery will be similarly quick! I suggest getting a new stuffed animal to surprise him with. Will pray for you both!!

  10. Oh what a beautiful boy you have..those eyes just melt me!!! I have three sons, all grown now but still my “babies”! My oldest and youngest both had to have eye surgeries as infants and toddlers and my oldest underwent 5 eye surgeries with the last one being when he was about 6 years old. He only remembers that one, but I must say that the surgery is more stressful for the parents than the child . I am glad that he will be “asleep”for the procedure. My son was always so thirsty when he woke up.. so hopefully they will have something for him to drink or ice chips. I am hoping this is an outpatient procedure and you and your angel will be home and you will get to snuggle and play/rest the rest of the day! Hang in there and prayers are with you all!! I couldn’t leave the room..but that is just me… I was riveted.. took magazines and book but couldn’t concentrate!… just be still and know that all is well! Keep us updated!

  11. Yes, it’s always nerve wracking–even if it was for a hangnail! One of my kids had been sedated a few times for CT scans when he was a toddler. It was/is a big deal! I hope it goes well.

Also, I had to have my tongue tie clipped when I was in 1st grade and they did it in the office without anesthesia–I still remember the pain and fear of that. So be thankful that they’ve come a long way!! 🙂

  12. Praying for little Ridley! My son had two abdominal procedures when he was 18 months and 3 years of age. The first was outpatient but the second was inpatient as it was more invasive. I still remember the fear and the tears, even though he’s now a happy and healthy 27-year-old man.

  13. Praying for Ridley and his mommy and daddy! My daughter (now 4) had this surgery done when she was 14 months old. Her tongue tie was pretty severe and the surgery went SO quickly and with fantastic results! A little grogginess and crying when she came out of the anesthesia, but after that she was fine. I had stocked up on Motrin and Tylenol to ease the pain, but hardly had to use it for more than a day or two. In fact, about 4 hours after her surgery, we were home splashing around in her baby pool!! He will do great and you’ll be so thankful you had the surgery done. My daughter can now speak clearly, stick her tongue out, and lick an ice cream cone like a pro!!

  14. Oh I know it’s nerve wracking. It’s a quick clip and all is good. Praying for your nerves and your little guy!

  15. I (and the whole family) will be praying for my little man!! And for you, too, of course!! =)

  16. Praying for your precious little boy and for you and your husband. Four out of my six children have had surgery. Two for tonsils, one for tubes in the ears and the other for a herniated navel. I totally understand the stress, fear and freaking out. Just say a small prayer and know that our Heavenly Father is watching and taking care!

  17. Your little boy is so cute! I am praying that all goes well during the surgery. It is always hardest on the mom! My oldest daughter had to get tubes in her ears when she was 3. I remember how scared I was. She is now 22 and getting married next month! Remember, they are always in Gods hands, even when they aren’t in ours. God Bless You.

  18. I have prayed Myra. I know the Lord is with you …and with Ridley, and all will be well! Our granddaughter Cecily had that done too, many years ago. Everything went great. God is good!

  19. Just read this (in CA). Praying now. 🙂

May the Lord bring you all through this surgery and Ridley heal very quickly.

    Blessings,

  20. I too had a miscarriage, and then my son, was also tongue-tied which really had me freaking out, but it never has effected his speech so his doctor never did anything about it, Well that baby boy will be 19 this year! And has a very proud momma. I pray all goes well and many blessings for you and your little guy.

  21. I hope Ridley’s surgery went well, I was praying for you My daughter had a procedure the day before. She has actually been under anesthesia 4 times now, three of which were outpatient procedures that were relatively minor. The other surgery was major and we had to stay in the hospital for several days with her afterwards. It is actually looking like she may have to have another major surgery. I would ask for your prayers for her!

  22. I hope all went well? I have had 3 little ones with tongue ties – first one wasn’t picked up – he was a terrible feeder, looking back – he snipped it himself, chewing his Grandma’s zip!!! The other 2 had it snipped when they were newborn’s, which was quick, but not very nice for a mum with lots of hormones! x
